CONFIRMED: There IS a factory shift light in the GTs and apparently GT500s:

The RPM can be adjusted via the tune. Stock setting looks like 7000 RPM for the GT. It doesn't seem to be documented in the owner's manual though.
The late model Ford Focus's also have this arrow "shift light" to tell you when to shift for max fuel economy or for whatever reason you wish, and was listed in the owner's manual.
Here's a pic of the arrow in the tach.

I have electrical harness in my console for the convertible top buttons in mine, but I have a coupe.

Have you requested the shift light RPM set to a lower RPM in your tunes? If the tuner is using SCT hardware/software, he/she will be able to do it. You won't hit 7000 RPM so the light probably will never light up with the stock tune.

There's a setting in the tune that is related to the shift light. The stock setting was 7000 RPM and you can change it to almost any value. Given the stock revlimiter settings, the shift lift would never work unless you downshifted into a lower gear at too high of a speed (overspeeding the engine).
Based on the description given in the setting, that's all there is to it. I may try setting it to a lower RPM to see if it lights up.

I believe you would need the SCT Advantage III software to be able to change the shift light. So, you would need to get your SCT dealer (the person who makes your custom tunes) to change it for you, because that option it is locked for you.

Unless you're hitting 7000 RPM, the shift light won't come on for those with stock tunes, or tunes made by SCT dealers that did not adjust this setting (assuming there is a light there and it is active).
I am a Pro Racer Package user (Advantage 2.9x) and I have found this package is totally worth the money. It has paid for itself several times over in the past 3 years. It isn't a replacement for an experienced and knowledgeable tuner though.
I wonder if Doug or Brenspeed have messed with the shift light setting?

The stock revlimiter is set to either 6250 or 6375 RPM (I'm confused by how they describe all of them). You can set up a 2-step revlimiter IIRC from the days of yore: a revlimiter for neutral (for your launch RPM) and the regular revlimiter.
Don't shift over 7k just to test the shift light!

Were the 06s set to 6500 by default? Ford may have lowered them for the 2007s. My SCT tune was set for a 6800 RPM revlimiter but I am going to stick with 6250 RPM.
when i had my other car and used a shift light.. I'd shift 500rpm before redline because thats about how long it took me to react to the flashlight hitting me in the face... hahahahaha
