Question Shaker Hood vs Car Wash

Has anyone with the shaker hood run their car through a car wash? We have a touchless car wash here that I have used in the past and was wondering if the amount of water flowing over the hood would be greater than the shaker shroud can elimate?

Rich, I never took mine through a automated wash but I did hose the heck out of it with the manual car washes and drove it (occasionally) through pounding rain..... worse case I ever had was water spots on the engine.

Hey Rich.
I have the CDC shaker and I do take mine thru an automatic car wash with like 150mph air blow off with no issues. The worst thing that happens is you will get some water spoting on the CDC shaker cover that easily wipes off. I use BP here in Ohio.

I had a factory Shaker on my 03 Mach 1 and drove it through an automated cloth car cash twice a week for 3 years without a problem. They were overengineered from the factory to survive torrential downpours, so a carwash is well within its capability to withstand.

Yeah for $23 I need to get off my butt and wash it myself. I don't mind washing the car but I HATE cleaning the interior and especially that back window.

I know why you take it there Rich.. You just want to show off your ride at the carwash.

How many of you go though cloth car washes, I've only heard how bad they are on a car. We have a couple really nice ones here, but I'm leery to use them. I used them on my old car and never had a problem and it was black, I did have micro swirls but after 100,000 miles I expect that, other then that (Which you really had to look for) the paint was great.

What happens if you spray water into the shaker hood intake? Does it drain out before it reaches the airbox?

A little water in the intake never hurt anyone. My intake is straight ram-air with my hood scoop and I've driven it in the pounding rain without a problem.

water wond hurt anything going into the shaker...

it will fall into the stock airbox (if it makes it that far) and drain out the bottom of it...

there is a drain in the ducting on the shaker too....

i had it apart last weekend to trim it
