Well...took out my GT today for movies and burgers with my girl, and got some curbrash already. I was pulling out of an EXTREMELY small parking lot, and I somehow rubbed against the concrete on my left front wheel. Ouch...it sounded nasty...nothing too bad, and it doesn't even show, but I know its there ..

Anyway...Next thing, as im driving, i notice the car shifting wierdly when i let off the gas (I have A/T). Overdrive on, it would not go into 5th for a second, then with a clunk (as if i shifted in a stickshift) it would shift up. Is this normal to hear the car's mechanics/shifting rarely?

To add to my bad night, I got onto a steep road and parked to enjoy a nice sunset ...after we finished, I put the car into what i thought was DRIVE, which I accidentally put into NEUTRAL. The car rolled back about 2 feet...and I shifted into DRIVE (my bad  ) while the car was rolling backwards!!! MY CAR ENGINE TURNED OFF!!! :bang: :bang: :bang:

Is this normal? Is it a safety feature to not screw the transmission? Is my car okay?

Don't worry. Take it back to the dealer. There is a problem Ford knows about with the computor and ours did the same thing. Just the day before we had went for a ride in the country and on a long stretch of road we were doing about 100 and did a Dukes jump off a hill. We were air born and when we came down we tapped the road a bit so we were really upset the next day when our car did the same thing yours did. Ford was able to fix the problem in a few hours. It wasn't the jump it was the computor. So just take the her in for a check up. Since Ford knew about the problem they fixed it for free.

When you say they fixed it, what was your problem? Are you talking about my car poofing with a sound? I mean, the delay isn't what is worrying me with the shifting, it happens in most cars when you play with the throttle too much . Its the sound I heard when it shifted. It sounded EXACTLY like I shifted from 4th to 5th in a stick. Feedback?
Comon guys only ONE post?

The delay in shifting, and the noise like it was growling while it was shifting. Ours would not go into second and then it would jump to fifth with this sound. We thought we had done somthing to the trans. It would turn it's self off like as if we were getting ready to go into overdrive and it switched off. The rolling backwards I can't say we had that issue. Just the trans. But like I said Ford knew about it and they will fix that with no problem. Since we had it done, she is just fine. Still don't like the trottle by wire. But we are going to flash the computor when we get the money together. We would have had it done but our daughter got married three weeks ago and we paid for the wedding. Any how just take it to the dealer. Hoped I was able to help.
