I have been thinking about going with 4.10 gears. How do they affect gas mileage and RPM's at say 60 and 80 mph. I do 60 miles of highway driving each day. Also, which brand is the best and where can I find the best price?

Jason, IMHO, I wouldn't go with 4.10's if I did a lot of highway driving.
If my car was an everyday freeway driver, I might consider going with 3.73's and keep a spare set of rims with lower diameter tires for goofing off and racing. The 3.55's that come with the manuals are fairly low and give good performance. If changing out gears I would (and did) buy from Ford Racing.

When you say go with 410's only 500 rpm difference, is that with auto or stick. I have an auto and am considering the 410's, thanks for any info.

4.10s are fine for either transmission. The deep OD gear on the 5spd auto might make it even less than the manual. You will love them, trust me!

500 rpms isn't too bad, I can live with it. I really don't care too much about fuel economy, rather I don't want my car to be too loud in case I am on the cell phone for business purposes. I think I am going to try it out.

I have to agree with Porsche here. I have Ford Racing 4.10's. It is a minimal difference in MPG. If I had it to do over again, I'd go with 4.30's. The 4.10's feel awesome! I can only imagine what the 4.30's would feel like.

So, with the 4.10s, what RPM are you at (in 5th on the MT) doing 75mph or so?

And, would the 3.73's make a noticeable difference?

In 5th at 80mph, about 3000 rpm if I recall correctly. I don't think 3.73's would be that noticeable at all.

Anyone know where I can find the best deal on a FRPP 4.10 Gear? I have a friend whom said he would help me install it for some beer.

try www.buyfordmotorsport.com or www.gefracing.com. I ordered 3.73 from Gefracing for my 95gt vert. believe I paid around $135 for the set. great service. remember to get the special gear additive. A word of advice, not a simple job, hope your friend is a good mechanic, It only cost me about 200 for install at the local performance shop to have mine gears installed, something to consider.

Gears are definitely a great mod! Good Luck!

I read somewhere else that they're revving about 3000 at 80 mph with 4.10's.
3.55 revs are 2400 at 80 mph.

Edit: according to the calculator (using stock 235/55-17 tires):
Gear 60 mph 70 mph 80 mph
3.55 1800 2100 2400
4.10 2100 2400 2800

I would probably hold off on those beers until after the install. Like Sam said, it ain't a piece of cake.

My friend has done it many times on his TT 5.0 Stang. A few bears helps speed up the process

According to www.tremec.com, and my Mustang spec sheet, 5th gear is .68?

Upon further investigation, I see Tremec has 3 other 3650 5 speed transmissions which have an overdrive of .62. If I plop that into that marvelous calculator at f-body.org, RPMs at 80 MPH are back down to 2500 with 4.10 gears versus 2400 RPM at 80 mph with 3.55 and .68 overdrive. That would work for me!
Or a T56 6-speed with .75 and .5 5th and 6th overdrive: with 4.30 gears, rpm is only 2K at 75 mph in 6th gear!!

Does anyone know which one of these the '05 GT actually has in it?

TR-3650 TCET1265 3.38 2.00 1.32 1.00 0.68
TR-3650-1 TCET2070 3.38 2.00 1.32 1.00 0.68

Myself, if I had an auto, I'd seriously consider 3.90's for the mix of city and highway driving I do. The final gear in the auto is only .71 and not .68
Here are some speeds and rpm's with each:
RPM 3.90 4.10 4.30
2000 58 56 53
2100 61 58 56
2200 64 61 58
2300 67 64 61
2400 70 67 64
2500 73 69 66
2600 76 72 69
2700 79 75 72
2800 82 78 74
2900 85 81 77
3000 88 83 79
3100 91 86 82
3200 93 89 85
3300 96 92 87
3400 99 94 90
3500 102 97 93
