I tested out the data logging feature of my SCT2 tonight and and it worked great expect that it wouldn't get signal from my knock sensor. Anyone else have a similar problem?

Same boat here. I didn't play with it to try to get to the bottom of it. Yet.

It's pretty straight forward, actually.

First, install the proper USB drivers (available from www.sctflash.com). Next, you have to install the Xc2 Live Link software (www.sctflash.com) on your laptop. Then, it is a straightfoward matter of connecting the X-Cal 2 to your ODB-2 diag port, connect the USB cable to the X-Cal 2, connect the USB cable to your lap top (wait for it to "install" the correct drivers if this is the first time you have connected the X-Cal 2 to your laptop), then start the Xc2 Live Link software.

To start data logging, you will need to click on the configuration button (right under the File button) to select the items you want to log. It will then connect to your car's computer and download a list of available items. You just need to go through the list and check off the ones you want to data log.

Once you have set up the configuration, you need to click on the start data logging button to start logging data. One thing to keep in mind: the default display shows a table of items you are datalogging on the left, the time line chart on the bottom right (it only shows the line for each item IF it has a check in it's box in the table) and five "gauges" on the top right. But by default, there are NO signals routed to any of these gauges, so they don't do anything when you are data logging. You have to right click on each gauge and select what signal you want it to present and it will then dynamically display that signal. Simple!

You can also use the file menu to save both the configuration (so you don't have to set it up every single time you want to data log something) and the log data (to a CSV file). You will also be asked if you want to save the data log any time you restart logging or when you exit the program.

One nice thing is you can reload a previous datalog and then go through the data (even run through it in real time if you want) at your leasure to extact the "nuggets" you need.
