Yes, it's here. It wont be available until next year though. It will be basically like a strategy flasher but it will also hold custom tunes. Mine will come only with custom tunes.

Also, please remember that the a/f readings REQUIRE an additional wideband 02 sensor, it will not read a/f wtihout this extra component.

Thanks Doug.

Will it read from just a wideband sensor? The site says it needs a complete unit like an LM-1 or Wideband Commander?

Check out this gauge by AeroForce Interceptor OBD2 scan gauge.

Not a tuner but puts most of the same functions and displays in a gauge. It can datalog and more.

Great... I'm getting ready to buy a tuner and CAI soon and it won't be ready until next year!
I don't know if I can wait!!!
Darn you TacoBill! I should never have let you take me for a ride... Lucky me I didn't get to drive it or my credit card wouldn't know what hit it!!!!

So is this kind of like an SCT tuner a GTech Pro combined?

Anyone know how much will it cost?

Aside from the expanded monitoring functions it still is just flashing your ecm. It isn't as though it is going to allow the program to be modified in some way that the current Excalibrator can't. I would think that a "maximum fuel economy" tune could be loaded with the present flasher if a tuner came up with one. I would also be willing to bet that maximum fuel economy=minimum performance which sort of defeats the pupose of modifying a Mustang.

ahh, looks like I got the wrong impression of it then.

I actually wouldn't mind having two settings for the car, performance, and economy. I generally know what I'm doing when I go for a drive ,if it's a pleasure/joy ride, or if it's a "get me from A to B" ride where economy would be better than performance. No sence in buring excess fuel when I'm sitting in traffic that isn't going more than 45mph! If only there were a faster/easier way to switch between the two. Like, say each time you start up the car you could choose which program for the car to run, while the car is warming up or something like that. I don't see why thats not possible, these car have computers all in them like a space ship!

Heck, on my old truck there was a switch I installed that let me tell the transmission how hard to shift. I didn't even have to kill the engine when I hit the switch from soft to firm (or inbetween even!), it was instant! That was 10 years ago I think we are being ripped off.

No doubt, it will load tunes lightning fast, but a "max economy tune" would be easy for anyone to create- it is simply a marketing tool to attract non-performance minded consumers to get them to slap down $600. Those types of consumers will be harder to attract, however, because they will be less likely than others to do anything to the car that might affect the warranty. If it sells only 10 more units, it will be worth the idea.

Actually it is opposite. The way to achieve maximum fuel efficiency is to lean out the engine as much as possible, advance the timing ect… Basically, you need produce more horsepower per charge of fuel in the cylinder meaning maximum amount of power from a given quantity of fuel.
If you doubt this you need only to look at the fuel milage of the 03/04 Mach 1 against the Mustang GT. The Mach 1 made more HP (305 vs 260) and got better fuel economy (1 MPG Highway, the same city MPG). Yes, it had a different engine than the GT, but it displaced the same. It was a little lighter as well but not enough to matter.
This is essentially what a CAI and a tune do for you. Many of the those who have gotten the CAI and a proper tune report an increase in milage in line with the SCT Livewire ad. At least those who can resist the temptation of all that extra power and fun!

Yea, that's what I experienced with my CAI/tune also. I went from about 25MPG @ 70 mph to 27+ at the same speed. Overall milage would have improved with the tune but since I suffer from leadfoots disease I haven't seen much increase in around town fuel economy.
