SC + Nitrous

Thanks to Tom I'm going to get the supercharger.... his advice and the advice his wife gave him convinced me to hold onto the money I just got for bonus at work and get an s/c.

I'm going to;

- get the nitrous kit thats ordered and run a 75shot

- save for a couple more months and order the s/c tuner kit (vortec or paxton)

- purchase an aftercooler, larger injectors and fuel pump

- install the supercharger and shove a 50shot down its throat.

That should help my car live up to it's license plate "BAD S197".

You guys are not only helpfull technically but logical in knowing that I'll not be satisfied with just temporary power.

So then, 06GTwBoostedJuice?? Man, I'm just interested in seeing what your username ends up being.......

Now the next question: what kind of blower? Centri, twinscrew, or....... turb0??

Supercharger was going to be an ATI Procharger.. but the Vortec kits are cheaper and get the job done.

A friend of mine went "cheap" on his mustang a couple years ago and got a Paxton Novi kit for cheap and his car was a beast, then he rebuilt the motor and moved out of the state.

Yeah, I really want a turbo but very, very likely will end up with a Paxton. Brenspeed sells a complete Paxton kit that I can likely (hopefully) get a deal on since I have the tuner, plugs, and injectors. They have some good clips and px of it on the website. For probably around $4200, I can probably get the intercooled, polished kit: 450-475 rwhp and around 425 rwtq. All the time too, no running to the speed shop for filling bottles.

1 question. What do some people want the paxton kit and not the vortech. Aren't they pretty much the same kit with different intercoolers. The vortech has has the air to water intercooler which will keep the temps lower correct. You also get the chance of water leak's with the air to water intercooler though

Nice 06wjuice, I am waiting for my bonus from work too!

Good call!

Have you read up on spraying with a blower? I think you should keep with the low shot like you are planning.

You don't want to hurt anything...

The added squeeze will definitely help in keeping the IAT's down which will in turn play a huge role in battling detonation.

06GTwBoostJuiceandNoMoreMoney should be the newest name...LOL!

The only real reason I'm looking at the Paxton instead of Vortech is because that's what the local shop sells and installs. They don't recommend Prochargers- said they can get them but they don't like the customer service from ATI. But they also sell & install Hellion turbos too.... darn it.

Would any of you guys prefer buying it piece by piece and putting my own kit together or buy a ready made kit? It appears that the best deal might be putting one together?

Which paxton unit are you looking at?

Im also debating about going with a bunch of little stuff now IE: Suspension, rims/tires, full exhaust....or just saving it all and going with a blower this summer.

Since you already have the tuner, I think you may be smart to just piece it together. That's what I decided to do, after I opened my eyes to finding deals on the parts that come with the kit. You know my story from the PM I sent you- once I found the injectors for cheap, the plugs for cheap, I started snatching things up. There is a KB BAP in the classifieds right now, but you can buy new cheaper so just watch out if you go the route I'm going.

Be careful and set aside some money just in case!! These motors aren't exactly stout in the piston/rods department. Good luck with your build and make sure and feed her plenty of fuel. With Boost and juice the stock fuel pump won't cut it.

Just stick with the blower until you get a built short block.

I've got both ready to go...However I stoped spraying when the Saleen went on. I won't be re-spraying until the motor is gone through...As with all other mod's on these car's the tuning is going to be KEY! To get both the S/C'er and Nitrous working together will be the diference in a bad S197 and a Blown-up S197.
