SC belt slippage - please describe for a SC newbie??

As this is my first supercharged stang, just curious - I am still running my stock belt with the Saleen 3.6 pulley (have the 108 gates belt just haven't swapped out yet) and have had no problems. Anyway I wanted to know if I just experienced belt slippage

Had an incident last night where I shifted 2nd to third - didn't powershift but definitely jammed my foot in it most of the way after the clean shift to third - and it seemed like the car 'hesitated' for a second before the power came on

???

I have no idea what a slipping belt feels like so I am clueless

It didn't seem like it was a case of the tires braking loose that I am fairly sure of

Can someone who has had a slipping belt describe what it feels like?

I had belt-slip once...... the sure-fire way to tell is:

Your pants will be around your ankles....

Sorry man, couldn't resist.

OK seriously I think it would be pretty hard to tell unless you were either on a dyno or on a 1/4 mile track...... you'd need something besides yourself to truly monitor it unless the slippage was major.

Watch your boost gauge. It will fluctuate when the belt slips.

You probably wouldn't feel a difference drivability wise.

Like I said on modularfords, it would be best to use a camera of get an extra pair of eyes watching the boost gauge...

I just went on a 30 minute search watching all the dyno day videos from MPH and unfortunately I couldn't find the vid. I was talking about anywhere

take a look at the belt and the parts around it, if you belt is slipping you should see belt "dust".

S197GT is correct, the boost gauge will fluctuate. You may have experienced a slipping clutch. If while engaging third gear you felt a slip kind of feel for maybe half a second without noise it's probably the clutch. What clutch do you have?

Tom 281, you'd better behave yourself.

Well it appears I have to accelerate my plans for replacing the stock Saleen SHORT sweep gauge with a full sweep - friday I shifted to third getting on the highway on ramp while watching the boost gauge to watch for drop off.....

Guess what?? Foot to the floor.... needle didn't move........
Haven't liked that thing since I first got the car

Anyway, ran my finger along the inside rim of the 3.6 pulley and the idler pulley... came away black with what I am guessing is rubber belt 'dust'.

Tomorrow night I am putting the Gates 108 belt on there (and the stock metal idler pulley) and will be good to go.
