Saleen Underdrive Pullies?
Saleen Underdrive Pullies?
What are the 3 pulleys that come with the normal saleen kit. Are they the crank, alternator, and water pump. If I can get a good deal on only the two(crank and water pump). Will that still have the same belt length etc. I am wondering if the alternator stays factory will that be a big deal. Anyone that has the saleen kit chime in and give me any info on this set up and how the installation went for you.
no one like saleen or something?
With 50 views only 1 reply? does no one own these pulleys? I see some kits from different makers are two pulleys some are 3. Saleen on there website says 3, I am in the process of trying to buy some, and I have found some that are only the crank and I think the water pump, but not the small one. I am wondering if that would be ok. If it will use the same size belt, etc? someon out there has to own these things. Please chime in with any experience with saleens underdrive pulleys. Thanks for any help. I like there look because of the logo and color. All the others seem to be black. I found BBK has a polished set, but it is only a 2 pulley replacement as well. I am wondering what gains a 2 pulley set is getting compared to a 3 pulley set. Thanks again for any info.
I own them. Had them installed. And think they are great. A little expensive, though. I believe we used the stock length belt, but I'm not totally sure. I can't comment on the 2 vs. 3 sets, I haven't had mine dyno'd since installation.

Soda - I had the Steeda UD pullies (3) on my '05 and liked them a lot. Way back then the same questions were being asked and IIRC you should use the Alt pully (aftermarket) as it compensates for the difference in RPM due to the pully swap - helping to keep your battery charged at lower RPM's.....some had issues others did not....
Well the way I understood it is that if you leave the alternator pump pulley factory, wont that just leave the alternator spinning near normal speeds and not being reduced by the underdrive alt pulley replacement. Just trying to understand what would happen if you only ran the crank and waterpump. Will you see any gains, or is it worthless with out that pulley?
