Saleen UDP install Questions?
Saleen UDP install Questions?
Alright I got my kit today. amazingly the guy sent me two water pump pulleys, one slightly scratched and the other brand new. Also came what appears to be a alternator pulley, and the crank pulley which what he said were two nicks from the tech, too me look like stamping locations for the spring clip that holds it all together, but either way they should work great. Everything seems pretty cut and dry on install except for the alternator. I read that you need a M8x50mmx1.25 bolt to put in the lower portion of the alternator bracket. First all is that the correct size. Secondly the alternator looks like it is a compress to fit application. Do you use the normal type tool for this removal of the alternator pulley, and in which direction should the pulley go on. Also I notice that the stock pulley has grooves on the outside portion after you take off the plastic cap. Is that for a specialty tool, or what? Any tips would be appreciated. Here are a couple of pics of the alternator pulley and there different sides. thanks again for any help, just trying to get all the if's out of the way before installation. I have also attached the install for the steeda pulleys, but I guess the steeda only comes with 2 pulleys, not 3 like the saleen kit does. Thanks again

Man it's been awhile since I did the ud installation on my '00 GT and '05 GT...but IIRC the hands down hardest part was getting the stock alternator pully off. I had to take it in to a shop with air tools for removal. Other than that it was pretty straightforward...be sure and pay attention to the crank pully bolt installation steps....(again IIRC) you tighten it so much, then back it off, then torque it down the rest of the way.
Yah I am pretty much going to follow the steeda install, except they dont change the alternator. I know how to use a normal puller for the alternator, was just wondering if they have a new spline type tool to remove this, since there are like splines on the front portion of the stock pulley. Also just wanted to make sure which direction the pulley would install. With the protruding section on first or the protuding section going on last so that it sticks out. I am sure I will be able to tell once I get into it. Just wanted any tips on anyones install. Thanks again for any info
From another fellow st. louis'r, andy the great,LOL. Why? Something wrong with them? Yah he saw my post and sent them too me. Thanks again andy. How you liking your tune there onemeanmarine, have you tried the 93 octane race yet, I just got the 93race, 91 race, and the 87 tune. The race tunes rock, I didnt really like the performance as much. So I am sticking with these. If I cant get 93, well I got 91, etc. Thanks for the props on the pulleys. Hopefully try next week or something to put them on. Need to go to my buddys shop and use his puller. CYA
As soon as i got home from the dyno day up there i ran out the 87 the next day and filled up with 91 and loaded the 91 perf tune and loved it and then andy said to try the race which i did and i was like WOW but for my 2hr drive to work i figured i'd use the perf tune for that and the race for around town, so when someone pulls up along side me at a light or while crusing and revs their engine while next to me i can give them a little taste of what i got. As far as the pulleys go i just got my steeda underdrive pulley set put on last week and i noticed a little gain and alot quicker revtimes now. Maybe a slight improvement on mileage but i really dont care about that since this is a sports car!
