I eventually want to get a fully built engine with twin turbos, but that tallies up to about $15k including labor (I'm not smart enough or equipped enough to do that on my own). I was thinking about just getting a decent supercharger for $4-6k and installing it myself, just to have something to play with for a few years until I can afford the twin turbo...

Are superchargers hard to uninstall? Do you make alot of damage installing them? (cutting stock pipes, hoses, etc, in a way that cannot easily be returned to stock)
To get you by why dont you just run a N20 set up then and do the twins later. You wont want to install a SC then uninstall then install twins. If you are planning on pulling the moto0r soon its less work to do it before the SC then after

That must have been why I saw all the sweet rides heading North on 31 for today. I was heading South from South Bend and passed at least 50 different classic rides. A lot of nice cars.

Sorry for the hijack, now back to the talk about superchargers.

BTW, I'm looking forward to seeing all the different SCs at the Brenspeed Dyno Day here in a couple weeks. Hopefully someone will bring a Whipple this time. That's the only one I haven't heard in person, and really want to see how it compares.

Take it from someone that had a Centi and now has a whipple. FOr an everday stock motor setup a Centi is fine if you want to turn it up and plan on a built motor and want to go fast get a TS over a Centi. I have not had a turbo but know Chevykiller had one and changed to a TS and before the turbo had a Vortec.

I liked Saleen and Whipple

I got my Saleen in LA and love it. There is always the direct argument over more timing or more psi with these twin screws to add power. Each tuner has there own method. In the end, there are hundeds of cars running well over 3 years plus on very powerful SC tunes on the stock engine. Erik

BTW, is there any difference between the Vortech and Paxton kits? They look very similar and have the same specs. Does Vortech OEM from Paxton or vice-versa?

Depends on what kits you're comparing...... the average Vortech kit either 'cooled or non-cooled come with the V2 S-trim. This is what I have but be advised that it is a smaller blower compared to the Paxton 2200 series which is what comes with their 'cooled kits. The V2 is still a great blower but you can reach more power with the 2200.

vortech uses air/water intercooler, paxton uses air/air. I believe you can use either intercooler for either system

We did Adam. We called that meet "Stangstock 07" and are planning "Stangstock 08" You may be to young to know why we call it that and that's okay. It's from a different generation.

Scott,

I looked on jdms website and they said that the saleen kit requires motor lowering mounts when used with the stock hood
