Ok I have been calling around lately looking for a Mineral Gray GT Stick.

Every time I found one on the internet I'd call the dealer and they say thats a Saleen.

Finally I asked how this works out.

Turns out the dealership gets their 2005 Mustang GTs for retail sale, then they send it off to Saleen to get turned into a most awesome S281.

The problem is that ups the price to about 42 Gs, making the GT out of reach for most of us regular Joes.

I could have had my car three times now if it weren't for this.

Jim - hang in there - you'll get what you want if you are patient......keep close tabs on the dealers in your area - you just never know when a GT on order may come up for sale....that's how I found mine - just passing my local Ford dealer and they had "my GT" on point......the order had been canceled and I just happened to be passing by............the rest is history!!

Thanks I've called about every dealer in this and the surrounding states so hopefully they'll give me a call. I will be putting in an order that supposedly still has allocations for 05s on Monday.

The dealer lies to you (big surprise). Saleen does not get their GT's from dealers. They get them directly from ford. Dealers are an endless source of bad info about the 2005+ mustang.

That's what I thought but I have heard this from several different dealers in several different states.

One in New York had a Saleen listed at it's old GT MSRP.

And a Dealer in TN said the same thing about a Mineral Grey GT that showed up in their inventory but had been sent off.
