Im heading up to Mid-Ohio race track this weekend for the S3 Triple Crown Competition. (The grand-am cup will be there as well with the stangs ) I have entered myself in the Speed competition just so I could have some fun with my mustang and see how she does against other cars. First question I have is what is a good all around tire pressure to run? There are two events that I know of. One being the "1/4" mile timed run from a stop and the other event being a cornering competition. Now I have played with my car A LOT on backroads, but I know track tarmac is going to be different. Im just wondering whats a good medium for cornering yet not too stiff so I cant launch my car from the line for the straight line event. Reason I ask all this is because hopefully some of you track guys have been to a racetrack/road course and can tell me what to expect.

Thanks!

BTW.. Im on the stock Pirellis

From what I have been told, changing Tire Pressure in stock tires will not help much with launches because the sidewalls are too stiff.

At the drag strip on the stock tires and stock pressure, I spun like a female dog. I would try dropping them 5 pounds and see if it helps.

I drop my tire pressure to about 25-30 psi when I go to the drag strip. I am also on my stock pirellis.

As you see from my times, I haven't got the launch down. Either I just spin and hop through first and second, or I bog out. I can't launch hard even from 2000. :bang:

I think LCAs will help a lot, and definately some wider tires! My wifes jetta has 235s :bang:

Lower pressure will hurt you in the corners. I have not played with pressure much, but have been happy with around 40lbs for a road course. If you are not able to change presure between 1/4 and road course, I would probably stick with stock presure.
