Has anyone installed a supercharger on there S197 Gt by themselves? No shop involved.. If so how difficult was it?

 

Installed the Roush M90 on my 05 GT last Fall. Took about 12 hours over three days (had to install around work hours), basic tools, very easy to follow instructions, with the only downside was having to wait for the PCM to be returned by Roush. Sent it to the via FEDEX on a Wednesday, did not get it back until the following Monday. Once it arrived, a simple plug in and run!
Ended up with a custom tune... so much more power and performance!

 

Sweet. What are you pushing RWHP? I'm getting ready to order the Stage 1 Intercooled Kenne Bell kit . I can't wait

 

Also did it come in a complete kit or did you have to buy some other things separate and what was the total cost if I may ask? The Kenne Bell is going to run me about $5800

 

I did the KB Stage 1 myself. Documentation very good. Many steps but not technically challenging. They supply a recommended tool list.

 

Yup, did the Whipple install twice.. Once with the non-intercooled kit, and then again 6 months later to install the 'Big Boost' kit. I had to almost remove everything again to install the intercooler.

Took two days the first time, but wasn't in any rush.. Directions were pretty good. Could easily do it in a day if I had to.

 

What kind of whine do you have with the KB? I know the S/C wine isn't that loud like they used to be. I've been looking at the Roush Charger also and that has a sick wine. What kinda RWHP are you pushing also?

 

Same thing with my Saleen - could have been done in a day if I didn't have to wait for the processor to come back. The base numbers on the car at that time after the install were 396 RWHP, but it was REALLY lean at the top. Ended up with bigger injectors and BAP, then got it 'safe' at 388.

Currently the only original parts of the drivetrain are the block and axle housing, but it's estimated at 550 by JDM (their email tune).

 

It wines pretty good and the higher the boost the more she wines.

I never dynoed until I went stage 2 and made 11psi with a 9 psi pulley. Had the tuner stop at 440 on my automatic.

Currently ruining the car at 15 psi and the charger pretty much screams.

 

Do you have a video of it? I'm trying to see how much it wines.. Thats kinda where I'm stuck at. Like I said the M90 wines like crazy

 

You may want to have a second person help you put the S/C on the manifold but just follow the directions and take your time.

Installed the Roush TVS on my car, did it myself in my garage. I took my time, probably a couple of weeks at an hour or two a day as work permitted. Very easy with normal garage tools. Can't beat doing it yourself, I got a huge sense of satisfaction out of it and would definitely do it again.

 

Installed the Saleen SC in my '07. You break it down to the heads and mount the SC and then put it back together. Had the wife help me set it in place, otherwise I did everything myself. Got a can tune and drove it to Houston and then had a custom dyno tune installed.

Also swapped in the dual fuel pump, had to redo the plumbing for the radiator but there is a kit for that as the plumbing setups differ from the '05-'06 and the '07-'09.

 

I got lucky...one of the last Roush M90 chromed/polished kits they had on sale in the fall. 3500.00 complete, (ordered a set of Speedster seat covers too) Needed to add nothing, but I did...Anderson Ford Power pipe CAI with a custom tune. Due to fuel starvation, it is safely tuned, pushing 384/372 at the wheels. Have already installed the BAP, have the smaller pulley, Ford Racing 62mm TB, idler and billet tensioner waiting to go on. Once the season changes and it warms up a bit, off to Loudon NH to get everything dialed in by Pete Johnson at Performance Dyno

 

everyone who is posting they have a SC , do yall have stock internals?? was planning on getting the FR SC kit.

Stock with a good tune for about 50K with no problems ...

 

I installed mine last summer, I have stock internals and a good dyno tune.
