S/C that doesn't relocate the air box?

What are the S/C out there that use the stock CAI location?

As far as I know, the Saleen blower is the only one that uses the stock intake.

Roush, Whipple, Magnacharger and Saleen all use the same location for the filter. The tubing between the filter and throttle body only stays stock with the Saleen though.

The centri chargers (Vortec, Procharger) would use ducting specific to the kit also.

Just trying to see if I'd have to replace my K&N if I got a particular S/C.

Just because it retains the stock configuration, doesn't mean you'll get away with using your K&N. You won't be able to, the opening across the MAF isn't nearly big enough to support a FI application.

You need a MAF opening of at least 90mm. CAI's that have 90mm + are the C&L Racer, Steeda and Airaid (with the venturi removed) OR the supplied MAF housing with whichever supercharger kit you get.

So let's say I got a Whipple H.O., I'd have to pick up one of the CAI's you mentioned?

The whipple should come with the full intake, since it relocates the plumbing from the filter area to the throttle bodies completely. Whether or not that includes a new filter, I'm not sure, I think so though.

Do you have a K&N full intake, or just a replacement flat filter in the stock airbox?

It's the full K&N. Connects to the TB

Then I think the Saleen is the only one that would use the full K&N kit. The MagnaCharger tb is angled a bit. You might be able to make it work, but maybe not.

Hey there,

The Magnuson supercharger uses the stock air box location. There are pictures of the install on the following link - just hit the picture of the little camera.

http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?i...&model=MUSTANG

Let me know if I can be of any help

Thanks

The Whipple doesn't use the stock airbox location at all.

Just make it easy on yourself and go with whatever the kit comes with and you'll be fine.

You will not be able to use the K&N no matter what you go with. period.

well i think youd be better off sellin the K&N buy the SC because the intake it comes with is optimized for that particular setup

What's so bad about having to relocate the air box? IMO nothing looks more badass than a saleen s/c with WMS intake.

Actually, that's not true. The Saleen uses the stock air plumbing from the TB thru the filter box. The K&N is a direct replacement for this stock system. Therefore the K&N (or C&L, JLT, WMS, etc) would all work with the Saleen. I Strongly recommend a dyno tune though. It's likely the Saleen reprogrammed ECU would work with the K&N, since the K&N doesn't require retuning the car, however, again, for best results, consult a competent tuner. You should plan on this no matter what s/c and intake you run.
