Your automatic needs a Mercon-V ATF. Does max ATF meet/exceed Mercon-V? If so, go ahead and use it.

I would recommend a 75W-140 w/ friction modifier for the rear differential.

I run Royal Purple all the way Around! I also believe www.brenspeed.com recommends it!....I'm sure many are just as good but probable none any better!

hi metroplex,

thanks always for your information.

i was thinking of just adding amsoil or ford racing friction modifier...but then then i ready royal purple gear oil has friction modifier already added to it.

which option is better? stock gear oil with added friction modifier or royal option?

Ford/Motorcraft gear oil is overpriced. I would add 4 oz of Ford friction modifier with whatever gear oil you use. I never trust the formulations.

Motorcraft XL-3, available almost anywhere. There's only 1 part #.
