Resonators Being added To O/R X Pipe And Flows 5/24/07

The Vibrant 12 inch resonators came in the mail today.Welding them in tomorrow morning at my shop. I haven't seen any one with the added resonators that have the o/r x pipe ,flowmaster set up. I will make before and after vids.

Tony,

Make sure you let us know how this goes. I assume you are doing this because of...................... drone?

Are you welding them in after the H connection or before the H connection?

Pictures would be great when you get this completed!

I like my newly installed FRPP Stingers and so far the drone is not a problem.

resonators

i really don't mind the drone as much as the trumpeting when I decelerate. The car is just too **** loud. The resonators are going on after the x-pipe. Like I said, I have not seen anyone with the resonator set up with the O/R x and flowmasters. I'm sure it will smooth the sound out and cut down the raspyness.I will have pics soon

Any updates on how this went? I get the horrible raspy sound around 2000-2500 RPMs as well as just over 3k RPMs. Did this cut down on that? Vids?

I have an off road H with flows and the same horrible raspy trumpeting in the same RPM range. Resonators completely eliminated it. It did quiet things down quite a bit and made the over all sound deeper.

Yep, resonators will do the trick.

Either of you have vids or sound clips somewhere? Which resonators did you go with? I had my H Pipe welded so I dont want to pay someone to cut it up on a hope that it will sound good and then it not sound better and then have to pay even more money to.

Mine are made by pypes and are installed in the mid pipe not the h pipe. All my video and most of my posts got lost in the site crash. They will make your exhaust quieter for sure, but it will eliminate the trumpeting completely. Long tubes are in my near future.

Will these resonators minimize the 1700-2200 rpm drone, as well as the "bowling ***** in the trunk" burble on decel? I'd love to know. Thanks!

What is the difference internally between the resonators and hi flow cats? And whats the cost difference?

The Vibrant resonators listed in the original post are about $50 each now from what I can find.

Resonators and cats are two totally different things. All the resonators will do is change the tone and in this case eliminate alot of the low RPM trumpeting sounds as well as alot of the drone at cruising speeds.

How much does it change the tone? quieter? deeper? I was running a O/R prochamber with the mac axle backs and loved the sound. But it was LOUD!!! Put on stock mufflers and its quiet. Been thinking about hi flows or the resonators. Would it make any difference if I mount the resonators before the prochamber? I should have room for the 12 inch style. Any ideas on how much each would change the sound. Im thinking the cats would quiet it down more with the extra resistance, but will it be too much? Got a manual so the drone is not much of an issue.

Has anyone been able to locate sound clips with these installed?

I saw a thread recently about where to weld these in line at and it was offset. How critical is the placement of these? If I go with these, I don't want to hack up the stock over axle piping. I would prefer to only cut on the Pypes pipes. Would placing both resonators in the same location cause any adverse sounds, performance issues???

I have them also. Same setup as listed above. Pypes off road H pipe and 40 series flows. I added 18" resonators to kill off some of the rasp from the H pipe.

Results are ALOT quieter and it kills quite a bit of the rasp. If no one chimes in, I will get a sound clip once my car is put back together.

For me, I plan on getting rid of the H pipe, add headers and then see how it sounds. The pypes just added way to much rasp.
