Reputable builders in the South Jersey area
Hey guys...
I'm in the process of putting together a plan for a new stroker shortblock, along with getting some work done on my stock heads. Anyone know of a good engine builder in the southern New Jersey area I can check out?
Thanks.
Al

JDM is in freehold, they are well know for tuning, not sure about building. Definately gonna call Dwayne this week over at Big Daddy to see what he might have as far as options.

May I ask what your price range is? I mean you can get a Livernoise short block with forged everything for 5G's rated at 1000hp and be stroked. If it were me, I wouldn't take anything from the old set up.

I've seen the Livernois setup, as well as others, MMR, PMP, Haney, etc. I'm probably looking at about 6-7K. What I meant by scavenge is taking off the blower, if the heads are good there are lees than 14000 miles on them so have them worked for around 700 instead of spending another 3K on new heads, and the dressings. If I could afford a full long block I would do that, believe me.

For my money I would go with the Livernois stroker for 5K. You even get a warranty for a year. Most engine builders that build custom motor give no warranty at all. Ask Brent & Dave up at Brenspeed. They have blown up some pretty high buck custom short blocks and they were left with nothing. We had this conversation at their fall dyno day. Of course they are pushing the Saleen stroker longblock for 13 K. Pricey I know. You can get a cheaper short block than Livernois but I don't think you can get a better one.

Sorry about that. I was running a Brenspeed Stage 2 kit. Had nothing to do with the tune, it was all driver error. Was running it in 35 degree weather, and under 1/4 tank of gas. And I always ran her ***** out, never thinking about pulling back at all. An expensive lesson learned, no question, but all on me.

Hey Al,
Why do you think the 35 degree air temps and the 1/4 tank of gas was an issue? I know running up against the limiter is not the best thing to do because that is where they tend to run lean. But I also don't see in your signature where you were running a KB boost-a-pump or GT500 pumps for extra fuel. If that is the case are you going to address that with your new setup? I have done the same thing to a 96 Cobra with a KB supercharger back in 99'. Took it to the strip and ran it to 7500 rpm shift points. Bad decision on my part. It only took 12.7 seconds and one pass to crush 5 pistons and put 2 rods thru that $2000 Teskid block. These engines need lots of fuel at WOT. If anything err on the rich side for safety. That bit of stupidity cost me $6500 for a stock short block back then. Didn't had all of the forged options like today.

yea I'm still trying to figure out the 35 degree temp and the 1/4 tank of gas, how did that blow your engine?
did you over rev when shifting? whats your rev set at?
