Removing old Flowmasters, need help

I am removing my Flowmaster mufflers that have been on the car for about 2 years. Problem I am having is the clamp appears to have crimped the mufler to the pipe and now they won't budge. I put some penetrating oil on the joint and waiting for a bit, but I think I might have to take it to a muffler shop to get them off. I don't want to have to cut the exhaust pipe because I might want to use it later.

Any ideas

you shouldnt have to cut anything. have someone heat that thing up with a torch and get it nice and hot but not to the point where it gets cut off. then get some quality hammers and force it off.

A rubber mallet may be all you need, that and some light twisting of the muffler should free it up.

Thats what I had to do to remove my GTA's after about 18mos. on the car. I was twisting them around almost a .5 turn working them off

Yup, time for the blue pointed wrench...a little heat and it will come right off.

I'm not sure about the Flowmasters, but all of the factory style mufflers have slits on the clamped section. Sometimes you can get a screwdriver and pry on it a little. Otherwise just rotate and pull.

Thanks for the replies. Took it to a local muffler shop with the mufflers just dangling. The removed them with heat and also removed the intermdiate pipes all for $20 cash. Nice place, drove in and was out in 15 minutes, no appointment. They even got some cardboard to put in the car to protect the interior.

Probably sell them. I have a co-working that really wants them so I have to clean them up.
