Easy!
I'm guessing any guy who wants to remove the AC unit isn't worried about a little window fog.
If you're serious about weight saving, then an aluminum driveshft is a must.
Just installed a dynotech and man what a difference!

Back in the old days, like the 1970s .... the AC was not used at all for the defrost. It was very common for an AC to not be used 8 - 9 months and longer some years. The defrost just used warm or hot air same as heat.
And then there are all those cars / trucks that never had AC and still defrost worked just dandy.
It is because the AC dehumidifies as well as cools that the AC was then tied into the defrost, just made it work faster and by doing so, also ensured that the AC got used some year round .... better for compressor seals.
My 1977 F-150 factory AC / heater did not originally use AC with defrost ..... so I simply added a toggle to switch on the AC clutch if desired for faster defrost or even if I want cold air out heat floor ducts (turn temp to cold and flip swith and run compressor with heater) ..... it does speed it up .... but defrost works without AC too.
