Recommendations on Bullitt intake purchase source and install
I'm about to purchase the Bullitt intake and tune(M-9603-GTB). Where are most folks here who have purchased this package bought theirs from? I believe 05stangkc said that he sells the parts separately, but not the entire package. Ninosport has it for $669.95. On the Ford Racing site it has it for the same price listed as Ninsport. Jegs is at $669.99 but the most surprising is a website called Late Model Restoration Supply (http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...0%201&comp=LRS) which lists it at only $599.95. How can they be so much cheaper? Also, has anyone who has installed the Bullitt intake bothered to swap out their hood liner for the matching one from Ford? I wonder what will happen if I leave the existing one in my 07 GT/CS.

The door plate says "1/07" which isn't that specific. Will the VIN tell me the exact build date? I don't suppose anyone has a picture of the correct liner vs. the older style? Buying from a dealer that is entirely unknown makes me nervous. I've bought from Ninosport before and been happy. However, $70 is a chunk of change. Ninosport doesn't usually charge shipping though and the other site might. That could be the difference in price right there. Here is a pic of my liner:

If you find out you do not have the Late Style and Must have a Bullitt One I suggest you get one at your Local Dealer as They come in a Huge Box and Shipping would be High. Also Realize your Clips will Likely be trash and you will need new ones. If Memory Serves 13. If you can Find some one to ship free they are Losing money as I have checked on Shipping one. And Yes you can get an Exact Build date by vin. But since now you have to pics to compare that should not be necessary.

I went over to my local Ford dealer and shot some pics of the liner on a 2008 Bullitt for comparison. It looks like I have the later model one and won't need to replace it. Thanks for the links as well KC. The thread you lined though didn't have a great shot of the air box side that I could find. Here is my liner in blue compared to the Bullitt liner. I'd love to have an identical pic of a liner that is before 1/25/07 to put up against these.

My local dealer sold me one for $569.99
The programmer came within 2 days and flashed with no problem.
My hood liner is perfect and it looks like the Bullitt's and my 07 was made in 10/06!
The tune if perfect and I do see a big gain. My car runs as well a my buddy's GT with a CL and BAMA 93 tune and I can't feel or notice a difference.
The internet is full of BS and no longer a reliable source of true information.

Do yourself a favor and buy just the intake and get a tuner from Doug at Bamachips. I did this on my 08 and couldn't be happier. When I went from the 3.31's to the 4.10's I was able to fix the speedo. You won't be able to do this with the Ford flash tool.

My plan is to go with the Ford tune initially and see how I like it. My car is a daily driver and although I have a tough time keeping my foot light, I usually average about 18-20 mpg. Somewhere down the line I may pop for an aftermarket tuner and tune but they are pretty pricey. I am glad to hear a dealer is selling it at a reasonable price. I suspect my local dealer won't be so generous. They tend to mark things up excessively.

Yes, most of the lag is gone, but I suspect those radical tunes from Bama or Bren might get rid of it all, at the expense of safety and longevity of the engine. But then again I don't see much difference from my friends GT with the Bama tune. Mine is a daily driver too and so far I'm happy with it.

That is my biggest concern with the aftermarket tunes. You definitely get better performance but I worry it pushes the engine much harder than the conservative Ford stuff. Since I don't plan on having to replace any major engine components, and mine is a daily driver, I don't necessarily want to be working the engine at its limit all the time. Quite frankly, if I was overly worried about being significantly faster, I would have just bought the GT500 in the first place. I do want to increase my horsepower, but I don't take it to the track and rarely race anyone......well except the occasional fart can exhaust Honda that always seems to force themselves to be humiliated. You would think they would know better before they rev the engine at a light or blow by you on the freeway laughing.

Yep, the other day before the intake and tune some plain looking Mercedes station Wagon gave me a run for the money because of my throttle lag. I won the sprint but it was difficult. I hope to see her again this monday morning.

C R at Tillmanspeed dyno tunes your to maximum but SAFE out put. I have the 93 race tune with 95 mm throttle body with a C & L CAI with absolutely nothing else and had no issues what so ever in almost two years. Then I when back for a dynotune and this car is simply incredible. (Way fun to drive) The consistant power for just past stock is unreal and again, no issues what so ever. Not that I sweat it, but my MPG even went up, which is just a plus for me. Yeah man. Ford was being conservative but that's cool. It just give us something to do to these wonderful machines. It will make you say this is how it should have been done FROM Ford..

100% true. I have a slightly used Bullitt intake and custom tune I sent a killer deal over to him via PM, but I think he's looking to go Ford tune (blah).
07 GT/CS give me a call Monday if you'd like and we can discuss the tuning options and I think you'll be much more satisfied and comfortable with our aftermarket SCT tune.

I'll give you a call Chris, I am reconsidering. I do have a question on the aftermarket tuners. Is it possible to do a Ford tune with an aftermarket tuner or is it embedded in the Ford ProCal instrument only? I see from your FAQ that I can retain my stock tune if I want to return it to stock condition but what about putting the Ford tune that they sell for the Bullitt intake? Also, I am looking at springs and shocks but your site doesn't bring up anything right now. Perhaps it is down for maintenance.
