I have recently run into about $1500 in extra cash to "blow". I wasn't going to start the performance mods for another couple of months but I got lucky. Anyway I've been reading alot in this forum lately and wonder what the best combo of mods you guys suggest. One thing is though, I actually have a friend whose dad is a mechanic and is going to hook me up on installation so labor shouldn't play a real factor in my budget. Thanks for any suggestions.

My 1st suggestion would be a SCT2 Tuning Device and a Cold Air Intake (CAI) along with the performance tunes designed for the CAI you get. I personally LOVE my C&L CAI and SCT2. For this I can HIGHLY RECOMMEND Doug at BamaChips Doug gave me the best customer service I've received in my life and his tunes are FANTASTIC. :worship:

Beyond that, I don't have any personal experience, but I understand Long Tube Headers are good for performance and it appears that the factory exhaust is pretty good, but Axle Back Mufflers can give deeper sound but HP gains are low.

Maybe some others can chime in with advice.

Hey this is my 1st post here cuz i havent got my 06 stang in yet so i just mostly browse. But like stated b4 definitly get an xct2 and cold air intake, b4 u do anything. I suggest c&l or jlt for the intakes, they make the most power. The cai and tune should give u somewhere around 25hp and cost about 600. Then get long tube headers, gears n some pullies for about 900 n ur stang should be makin about 345 at the crank.

With that budget, I'd say:

1. JLT cai w/Tuner
2. Check out the Exhaust sticky and find an axleback you like
3. Longtube headers

Id go with an axle back and a CAI with a tune, then use the rest to get you some exterior mods. Possibly a chin spoiler or a ducktail or invest in some aftermarket wheels and tires. Give it a lil show AND a lil go.

I agree with the majority... get a tuner and CAI first of all. With the rest of the cash, get an axleback exhaust and some headers and mid-pipe (longtube headers and off-road pro chamber if you have no emission testing in GA).

I almost agree with the rest of the replies. If performance is your goal, I would do:

1. CAI + tuner
2. Axleback system
3. Rear gears

I think you'll get more bang for the buck this way, instead of headers yet. The stock system flows pretty well (until you add a forced induction system).

What are you trying to do?
What is most important to you (handling, power #'s, drag times) etc.

For me it would be suspension (springs/dampers/sways/chassis stiffening). But I am in the minority here on these boards.

If you are into accelleration, gears would be a good place to start.

my tuner recommends starting from the rear of the vehicle(aka exhaust) forward. My suggestion..........start with headers back, then CAI and Tune---
