Re-Oiling the CAI Filter: How often?

Hello everyone!

Just curious, how often should I re-oil my CAI filter? It was installed back in mid-April.

My K&N says to clean and reoil the filter once a year...That should be ok unless you put a huge amount of miles on it.

I poked around on the K&N site, and was unable to figure out which oil to purchase, nor what exactly the procedure is. Would anyone mind pointing me in the right direction? Do they just have a generic filter oil and procedure, or is there something specific depending upon the model? Thanks!

You can just go to your local auto parts store like an Advance Auto Parts or Pepboys, they should carry a K&N Filter Recharger Kit which includes filter cleaner and oil. $10 bucks. Mine was filthy after a year, after cleaning it the car felt a little more lively

I believe that this depends on a filter. I have AFE and they recommend doing the cleaing procedure only when the filter is dirty, i.e. the wire mash is not visible under dirt.

If it looks real dirty, clean it and oil it with a K&N kit, comes with cleaner and oil. It depends on how dusty the enivironment is, but I clean mine every year.
