Quick Question about Custom Tune
If one elects to do a custom tune, i.e. to go to a DYNO/tuner, have the computer hooked up, and make adjustments for just that car (as opposed to a "canned" tune loaded on an SCT or Predator, even if it has been "customized" to a particular mod), is there any way to keep the car's original parameters? The reason I ask is that people have suggested that, should you need to get work done, you can simply reflash your car's computer back to its original state so that the dealer can't detect it and refuse service under the warranty. If a custom tuner is doing this, won't his computer/laptop/tuning device hold your car's original computer parameters? If so, will you have to go back to him for a reflash? Or do custom tuners still require you to have a handheld unit, like the SCT or Predator, for this very reason?
Thanks.

Thanks.
I have both the SCT and the Diablo and the first time you use it on your car , it saves the factory program and locks itself to that car. As far as reinstalling the factory tune before going to the dealer , if you have made modifications that require reflashing the computer , then the factory program won't work with the mods. You would need to put back the factory items you replaced to use the factory program ...
DiabloSport Predator holds five custom tunes and the original DiabloSport performance calibrations for 87/91/93 octane fuels. Predator saves the factory original calibration when you first plug into your vehicle.
You can contact any one of a nation wide network of chassis dyno equipped CMR performance tuning dealers on our dealer locator:

Custom tunes can also be sent through e-mail if needed, dyno tuning is always the recommended path for the best over all power and the safest calibrations.
Restoring the original back to the vehicle will put everything back to stock and release Predator to be used on another vehicle. Only one vehicle can be flashed at a time.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'm still a little confused about one thing - I was under the impression that a tuner at a DYNO will hook the DYNO's computer (or even something like a laptop) up to the car, and input the tune that way. Therefore, I thought that an SCT or Predator would be unnecessary.
Am I mistaken? Does the computer just read the data and then create a tune file that then has to go through a hand-held to be loaded into the car?
Thanks!

the dyno has nothing to do with the tune, its just one big giant guage to measure engine output, and sometimes air/fuel ratio, so the tuner can use a tune/modify/create a custom tune to maximize the output of the car
