Question about STEEDA intake!
05 GT Intake
Does this require a dyno or retuning once installed?
If so, where do you get that done at? How much? Doesit void any warranty with Ford?
Thanks to anyone who can help
is there a better and/or cheaper one out there? Thanks again

Yes , it will require your computer to be re-flashed ... Which if you don't already have one , will require you to get either the SCT or the Diablo Sport tuner ...
No , it doesn't have to be dyno'd , but if you want the most performance gains you can get , it helps. I didn't have my dyno'd till we added the CM Plates. I had mine dyno'd at Steeda at first when I was using the SCT and it cost $150 ...
Later on I got the Diablo and since they didn't have the tune correct for the Steeda setup , they had me come in and used my car for R&D to correct the tune. They spent the whole day and didn't charge me anything ...
As far as better or cheaper ... I think there are some that are cheaper , but I don't think they have a heat shield , the ones that do all cost about the same. I chose the Steeda CAI because I live near Steeda and always used their parts on my last mustang , someone else might prefer one of the other CAI units . I don't think there should be much difference in performance gains between the different units ...

To re-flash the computer, can this be done at home, or does it require you to take the car in somewhere. Sorry performance mods are new to me, and allthough I am interested in the CAI , it seems like a lot more intense then I want to get involved in.
Thanks for enlightening me with any info .

Hey there ponygirl. Try this link and locate a dealer near year for sct dyno/tuning.
http://www.sctflash.com/main.php
put in your zip code and it will show you dyno sct tuners in your area. My dealer service mgr. did tell me that it would void warranty, before I even asked about it. You can keep a copy of the factory tune on the sct or diablo devices. So that you can go back to stock. But again, I am sure dealer is going to say cai is also voiding warranty. Before doing many mods other than exhaust. Search out a dealer that is willing to work with modded cars, or you may find yourself up the river. You can put a canned flash from the dealer selling you the hand device/flasher/programmer. But it seems the best way to get the right program is to take it to a tuner, that can modify the tune to its best paramaters. Thus making sure all works well. Good luck pnygrl.
