Quarter mile cooler for watercooled s/c

I recently ran accross the product linked below while searching for ways to reduce intake air temps (I live in Arizona, just about 4 feet above hell itself) and am thinking about homebrewing one. check out the link below:

http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co...all/index.html

what I am going to do is go and buy a 5 Gallon air tank, and weld couple fittings on it to run the hoses to. later on i will go ahead and put a large pressure cap on it so that it can be filled with ice at the track.

I just dont see how the quarter mile cooler is worth the asking price when I can build the same thing for under $40

anybody have any ideas they want to share about my little pet project? ways I might improve it?

here is the tank I bought for the project:

Just needs an extra bung welded in there on the bottom. It will fit nicely in the spare tire well too...lol

Hey Faber,
Glad your back!! I accually read that article a couple of weeks ago while on a flight to Florida for vacation. I was impressed by the idea and by the amount of horsepower improvement it made but your right that price was crazy they wanted for the system. I have nothing to offer up for ideas yet but I will follow along as your new project progresses. Again..I am glad you back with us.

Thanks man. Me too. The tank is at a shop getting the bungs welded into it today. I am searching fo the right kind of cap so I can dump ice in this thing. I think it will work out well, and for about $40-$50 it is the right price too....

LOL I read that article and couldn't believe the asking price...... Faber you've got a good idea, it will be interesting to see how it works. Do you have a IAT guage to see what the current temps are? Would be great to be able to track the improvement....
