Pypes O/R H pipe with Mac axlebacks

About a month ago I purchased and installed a pypes O/R H pipe and Mac axleback on my car. The first start up (once the installation was complete) was magical but when I took it for a test drive I noticed that right around 2500 rpm the thing trumpets really bad. Now 1000 miles later the problem still exists and countless hours spent searching through every late model mustang forum has provided me with one conclusion. I think my best option for toning down or hopefully alleviating the trumpeting completely is to install a pair of resonators right after the H. Currently I find myself shifting right before the tach hits 2500 rpm and thats no way to enjoy a Mustang. Feedback on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

That should solve the problem. I have a catted x, 12" resonators/glasspacks and MACs and I have no trumpeting.

Pardon my ignorance, but what noise is considered to be trumpeting?

It's kind of a blating sound around 2500 RPMS or so when you go mid to full throttle. You can hear it a little in this video around 11-12 second mark:

Here is another on you can hear it hear it a few times in this video

Thanks for the explanation! I have got a Pypes off road H and the newer Flowmaster mufflers. I generally like the sound especially the cold start and idling, but I do get this machine gun like sound at mid to full throttle. Is this considered trumpeting?

I dont mind it too much....though I am planning on installing some headers next summer and hopefully that will help alleviate some of it. Personally, I prefer this sound over some of those raspy X pipes and I find some of the other axlebacks produce a sound that is too muffled.

o/r x and chambered mufflers like flows sound really raspy but with the right axlebacks, catted x and o/r x sound awesome. I heard an 06 Mustang GT last week with o/r x and bassani race and that sounded awesome.

What brand of resonators did you go with?

The guy at the shop said it they are from walker but you can't go wrong with pypes m80, dynomax bullets or magnaflow. There is a slight difference. The pypes M80s and the magnflow round mufflers are stainless steel and have packing material which really makes them "glasspacks". The ones I have are aluminumized but also have packing material. Either way they will get rid of or reduce the trumpeting. For the price I would go with Pypes M80.

Well I finally had 2 12" Vibrant Stainless Steel resonators put in and man what a huge difference. I had the exhaust shop weld them in right after the h-pipe before the rear axle. That trumpeting at 2500 rpm's is gone and it did quiet the sound just a hair but it sounds deeper in tone.

I installed a magnaflow X pipe with axel back chambered Magnaflows. I haven't driven around much with this system but don't hear the noises in the videos. The jury is still out though. I do get a slight "noise" under low vacumn and I don't think it is a leak, but will have to check. Anyway, no raspy noise on my system.
