I figured for $170 at Brenspeed I'd try it out. I sent it to MikeM's house so we could install it there. Since's he's been busy with Hookers lately I figure he's an expert at laying some Pype
The unit was really clean and built well we thought compared to the Mak offroad X pipe Mike just took out of his car. Came in 2 pieces with a really cheap chinese steel muffer clamp. I can see why people have had problems with them falling off.
So we take out the stock H-pipe. Anybody that doesn't remove their battery and tray to unhook the green O2 sensor is stupid. Took 2 seconds to take out the battery.

Then you swap the O2 sensors to the new pipe bungs and tighten. Then you just mount them up to the car. The T part of the H pipe gets clamped together.

[attachmentid=48355]
We took one look at it with the clamp on that was holding it and it looks stupid. Reason #2 for doing it with Mike is that he's a structural welder. He TiG welded that thing up and it looks mint. Mike put some "sick bead" on it.
[attachmentid=48356]
[attachmentid=48357]
After it was welded and sprayed with galvanizer we mounted it in place, it fit good. Put the battery in and fired it up.
[attachmentid=48358]
After the key was turned our eyes just popped out of our heads. IT WAS SO FREAKING LOUD!!! Like rediculously loud. Loud enough so if a car with an alarm was within 30 yards away would go off. All I could think about was my condo association killing me.
After the O2 sensors warmed up though it went to a nice soft idle and you couldn't even tell the O/R pipe was in there. Until you get it over 2000 you dont hear it. At about 2500 it "trumpets" but I like it. We took a sick video with Mike's camera, he should have that up soon.
Driving around with this thing is great. Everybody and their mother was looking. There was a guy walking his dog near a stop sign I was at. I crept up on them at 1500 rpms until I got right behind them then I floored it. I look behind me and the guy and the dog are together in the air. They freaked out. People seem to want to race me a lot more now too.
Let me tell you though, the ladies love the sound. I was pulling out of the restaurant tonight and all the ladies came up to me and were asking me about the car. Good thing I kicked my fiancee out of the house yesterday because it's going to be a fun summer I can tell.

no, thats only mid throttle, don, common, think of it at WOT. ok, I bet that put a smile on your face.

Yes, WOT was sick... but I don't drive at WOT most of the time. The bulk of driving is part throttle.

Why does it sound horrible? I just got some Loudmouths and love the sound but after hearing some fellow TMS members O/R H-pipe I'm tempted. I would like just a little bit more noise at idle and it seems like that price is pretty good.

J,
Ron tried that combo and he said it sounded horrible as well. Said that he said the car was shaking apart and was embarrased to drive the car. You would be running straight pipes.

LMs sound awesome with the stock cats in place. Without the stock cats, it will trumpet... and IMHO, it sounded horrible. But go for it if you want.

i wouldnt go for it, i LOVE loud, but it is not safe with cops on the road. if you want loud, but no trumpets get a catted mid pipe. (but if you have long tubes, it doesnt seem the cats help much) its still gonna be $%&#ing loud, but not insane.

I had that combo, and it lasted all of 1 day on my car. It sounded like a top fuel funny car. The LM's are awesome with a stock mid pipe....but obnoxious with a o/r pipe.

you dont need to disconnect the battery to do this. im sure it would be easier but you can still do it without that. just disconnect the O2 sensors from their electric connectors, then unscrew them from the pipe. that way you dont twist the wires.
