Problems with BAMA Race Tune - Erratic Idle
I just installed a JLT CAI AND CMDP Deletes and bought a SCT X3 from American Muscle / BAMA and I am having problems with my Race Tune. I loaded the street tune and the performance tune and they both ran like a charm, but then when I loaded the race tune, ny car starts idle at 2500 rpm, then jumps down to 1200 and finally 500 at which point then it goes back up to 1200. I have this problem everytime I start it or stop for a short or long period of tim, (redlights, drive-thrus). I was just wandering if it could be anything else other than the tune, because they have sent me three revisions today. Any suggestions guys?

I'm gonna talk to them again this morning and I have no doubt they will help me work it out, because they have worked with me tremendously and have offered impeccable customer service so far.

Chris - I didn't have any doubt about your guys at all! I just wanted to make sure something on my car wasn't causing the problem, so I wouldn't be wasting their time. I just want everyone to know that is reading this thread that every car is different and every car requires a different tune. The tunes that didn't run correctly was the starting points that BAMA used to figure out which tune would run best in my car. The great thing about BAMA and American Muscle is that they know their stuff and can solve problems that others can't, solving my issue in under 24 hours! I have had nothing but impeccable service from American Muscle so far, from my wheels/tires to my tuner and CAI, it has all came from you American Muscle! Thanks Chris!

I had the same idle issue not long ago when I did the delete plates, it was the tune for me as well. They fixed it quickly with a revision and it has been awesome since. I do very much trust American Muscle to work out any problems, they fixed it right away and were very easy to work with.

uh huh ! same happened to me I left the 93 per tune in when I cleaned mythrottle body & when I fired it up it changed something , but only on that tune, it idles about 1500 then drops the other tunes work great ! So I say UNINSTALL ANY TUNE BEFORE CLAENING ANY THROATTLE BODY ASSEMBLY ! I don't know why this happens but apparently it does.

Cleaning the throttle body changes idle air requirements (drastically if the throttle body is really dirty). These values are learned values, so when you start the car and it changes, it needs to be learned. You can reset the battery while cleaning the throttle body, and this will wipe any learned values out as well. Either method, so that when the car starts, it's got a fresh idle air table ready to be filled in.

Doug is actually not part of the day to day operations. You'll want to call the new Bama team directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll write you new tunes. I didn't realize the tunes were that old. They were before the AM/Bama merger. We've got some really cool improvements on those tunes.
