pro chamber question

Can someone school me on pros and cons of pro chambers and what they are exactly I'm already have a pypes cat back system on my 06 gt and Ford racing Cai and sct tuner. My next move is pypes shorty headers since I don't want the cost and hassle of long tubes and I'm going for that bottom end power and muscle car sound. From what I understand I should get a cartted h pipe...but I don't know much about pro chambers. Thanks everyone in advanced I'm new to this forum but its very informative!

The prochamber is basically a x pipe with a box welded around it. Makes the sound deep but still kind of refined. Most people compare it to the newer muscle cars with a bit of exotic splashed in.

I just installed one today to go with the Stingers. It is really deep. It is pretty loud and raw but still pretty refined sounding. My initial notice was the whooshing noise it makes on the inside of the car around 1200-1800 RPM. I have a feeling this will calm down with some miles.

Those were from a few years ago, but the exhaust setup hasn't changed.

I should mention that CJ Pony Parts had the prochamber for like 380 shipped if the sale is still going on. I ordered on Saturday and it was here on Wednesday. You will want a universal joint socket to help you remove the factory H pipe at the header too.

I have the stingers with the O/R h pipe. Too much trumpeting. How are they with the prochamber? I heard the trumpeting disappears. Is this true?

I'm not 100% familiar with what guys are talking about by trumpeting unless you are talking about what the offroad pipes do with chambered mufflers. The prochamber/stinger combo has lots of bass at low RPMs it is still deep at higher but gets really loud at about 4,500. It's raw but smooth and throaty overall. The car sounds like something you'd hear pulling up to a racetrack. It has a very classic muscle sound all the way down to the subtle valve tap/tick/pulse noise you get with some throttle at lower RPM. I'm going to a show in a couple weeks and I might be able to get a video with a couple cars side by side with just borlas and then with prochamber. Too me the only thing that might be wrong with the prochamber for some people is the sheer volume.

I had the stock headers and LTs with O/R prochamber with the Mac axle backs. Both had some trumpeting around 18-20k. Not sure how the stingers would be. Will be trying out the pypes MM this weekend and some hi flow cats.

The trumpeting comes on around 2,300 RPM. Last for a few hundred RPM.

So the almost dental drill type noise? I got that worse with the Borlas initially before they had some break in mileage. I've not noticed it as much with the prochamber.

Never heard it called dental drill but that is more accurate then the trumpeting. So the prochamber tamed it a bit.

Tamed probably isn't the right word. It's deeper. The Borlas settled down some over a few thousand miles. I had them from the first few thousand on the car and just recently added the prochamber at about 67,000. Either I don't really notice the trumpeting any more or it didn't make it worse. Cruising in a 35-40 mph zone at low RPM's (in 5th) delivers some crazy bass.

I guess I meant it tamed the trumpeting. I have been looking at the prochamber but not sure how it will go with my cams. I like deep though. Do you have headers? Thanks for all the info so far.

Usually comes on with the O/R H pipe. Not sure if it does it with the X pipe. Need to find someone around here with stingers and prochamber to check it out.

Check the hangers on the midpipe. There is a TSB about them bottoming out against the bracket (On the S197) and causing a vibration noise. There is a rubber insulator that they go in. The noise I got with the stingers at 2000-2500 was in high gear going up hill usually and it wasn't really high pitched but sort of messed with your head like the feeling you would get from a dental drill.

Mods are in my signature. I don't have headers.

Put the Prochamber on and have been driving for a couple weeks. Trumpeting is gone and the drone is reduced significantly. They sound awesome. Now to decide which headers to go with.
