@ Texas, the 5.4 block has a taller deck to accomodate the longer stroke. Otherwise you are correct. The 4v 5.4 is nearly 30 inches in width.

5.4 DOHC Nav engine runs great in the S197. I used all oem parts from various mustangs (SN95-S197) except full length headers (JBA Shelby) slightly modified lower Nav intake, custom upper intake. See YouTube videos "Scotts 5.4 DOHC in 2006 Mustang".

That is so sweet Scott!

I have 190K on my 05 & I will have to make a decision over the next year if I want a MY 13/14/15, or do I build my 05. Being my GT is a DD I have a few questions.

What ECU are you using? I can't have any engine lights to pass emissions.

Are the accessories from a 4.6 Stang or the Nav?

The top intake you built, do you have specs for building it & or if you go with the blower setup could I buy that intake if you don't need it?

What did you do internally to the engine, pistons, cams, etc?

Thx

I used a S197 3v ECM. It communicates to cluster, smart box (body) module, etc. Whatever trans you go with, you'll need manual or auto trans ECM-very important. I kept Evap emissions. Nav engine shares the 35X crank sensor. However, 3V eng uses two cam 4X sensors. Nav uses only one cam 1X sensor. So I had to turn off cam sensor. No driveability issues. But will effect NOx. Used all 3v pulley systems. I used a hybrid cobra cooling system. Nav crank uses 8 bolt flywheel so use a cobra flywheel. 11:1 compression, cobra cams, 403hp at the rear wheels. Very impressed with performance. GPS shows 12.4 in 1/4 mile but have not backed that up....yet. got the GT500 supercharger, tbody, elbow for $300 on ebay with only 140 miles on it. Wheels are spinning.

That is awesome that you have so many miles on your car! I'm jealous, due to taking public transportation to my job in downtown Chicago the entire time I've had my car, I don't get to drive it enough.

Thanks Scott, great info.

Been checking out intakes, found good article I'll post just in case you haven't seen it. Going to search out the 290 Boss intake. I'll stay in touch.

Thanks, I love my 05 & really need to decide do I spend 35K for a new one, or 15K to build the current car. 15K can go a long way, suspension, brakes, drivetrain. The end product with a strong 5.4 should be a great runner.

I do all my own work except for the machine shop, I have a good shop that does all my engine blocks, heads etc & I will do the final assembly.

Sorry you can't drive your car more often, but making a living is more important. I guess I'm truly blessed I make my living driving my GT all day long.

Research the 5.0 t-body motor and TPS wiring. Same as 3V ? Sounds like a good plan.

Does Ford buy the M-6066-MGT23TD from another supplier? I'm curious to purchase the lower intake/intercooler separate.
