I use mobil one but I think you left amsoil off the list

Red-Line oil for me. Great stuff.
I am not a big fan of Mobil 1. And royal purple is a tad over advertised for my tastes. Besides, I have spoken to a couple engine builders who have not liked the stuff. One builder whom I trust pretty well believed it destroyed an engine of his and referred to is as purple liquid garbage.

Motorcraft is SEMI-SYNTHETIC, not Full synthetic. Most semi-syn blends are actually much less than 50/50 too, more like 25% syn, 75% conventional. Regardless, Motorcraft is a pretty good oil, especially for the price.
"Synthetic blend"....... you're right about not being full synthetic- my bad.

Don't have a S197, but this topic is still relevant to me. Will try Mobil 1 in the future.
My pleasure cars never seem to make it more than 3000 mi. before an oil change (too many months).
No point in using anything better then Motorcraft, it never gets time to even look dirty.
My last car I changed the oil about 25 times in 20,000 mi., but that was 13 years.

No Amsoil? I voted other. I'd use any of the above, though. I've got Amsoil in everything, Mustang motor, tranny, rear end, Lightning motor/tranny, all three bikes, etc. Good stuff, and I can get it cheaper than Mobile 1 dropped at my doorstep.
Mobile 1 is great though.

Motorcraft does have full synthetic engine oil (5W-30, 5W-50, etc...) the stuff you find at Wal-Mart is Synth Blend 5W-20 and sometimes even Full Synthetic 5W-30 or 5W-50.
I guess Amway Oil isn't too popular here?

In new cars, Mobil 1 works well enough it seems. But in anything that is a little older like early 90s back, regardless of mileage, if you take a car that has zero seal leaks, and is running red-line or amsoil. And put in mobil 1, seal leaks pop up all over the place.
I have seen this on several customers cars.
But on new stuff, it seems to be fine.
