I went to look at the magnaflow performance exhaust tips I ordered from a local muffle shop here. I picked one up, and it was "dirty" on th einside and the magnaflow performance etched decal on the tip rim was really worn looking.

The guy said they were new, but they were so dirty and grundgy looking. The chrome itself looked nice, but........... ARE THEY NEW?

Am I getting the shaft ? Do they all look like that?

I told him I would come back on Monday becuase I decided to go from the 6.25 to the 8.25 inlet, so he ordering those for me. :bang: Darn, now I have to wait even longer.

I can see no reason for them to be "dirty and grundgy" . . . . . . other than they are used. :notnice: My advice, try another shop that won't try to take advantage of you.

They said the inside of the tip always looks like that. I was not convinced. Plus, since I went a size bigger, I wanted to see what the new ones would look like .

Both guys there said they all come that way, but I was not convinced. The words were half worn off, and the inside was a black muffler grime.

I got different exhaust, but right out of the box everything was nice and shiney, even inside, something doesn't sound right.

I hope when the new ones you ordered come in that they are absolutely pristine and you can show them that even thought you're "just a girl" they can't get anything past you. (Not that they're trying to intentionally ) I hate going places and getting the feeling that just because I'm a girl they're trying to pull something over on me. Shame on the guys that do that :nono:

Just a thought.. If the new ones look better... I wouldn't do business with them at all.. I mean if they were shady enough to make an attempt at taking advantage of you in the first place.. who says you can/should trust them at all...
Besides, there's also just the principle of the matter.....

 

No way should they look dirty and used. Mine looked brand new. I'd be careful doing business with these guys. :nono:

 

Definately stop dealing with them. There is no point in you going back at this point other than to prove them wrong, which they will end up (pardon my french) screw you in another way, most likely labour.

 

They already were screwing her with the labor price in my opinion. Get out of there now Ponygirl. Those are used, they do not come that way!

B) Join your local Pony club and talk to them. You'll find a lot of friendly advise, bragging and BS. Bottom line is most members look out for one another and share lessons learned so local scam/rip-off artists can be avoided.

I had a magnaflow exhaust on my last car, was a great product with alot of attention to detail. The inside of the tips were just as bright and shiny as the out side. Someone most likely returned those. If that had any sort of soot and had any sort of wear, no way would I buy them. I would call them up and say cancel my order, if they ask why tell them it's because "you tried to sell me second hand merchandiseas new". They should also be in a box!

Good luck and as far as I know they just clamp on, something you could very easily do yourself.
