Pirelli PZero tread life
Pirelli PZero tread life
Can someone give me an estimate in mileage about how long these tires are good for?
I got a chance to buy a set of takeoff GT charcoal bullits with the Pirelli PZero Nero tires. The tires have 24,000 miles on them so I'm not really sure its a good deal. His price is pretty much the same as what I could buy them new online, but I want to see if it's worth it to try and talk him down on the price.
Thanks in advance.

I got 22,000 out of my last set of tires which were Falkens , my PZero's are setting in my spare bed room with only 1,000 miles on them so I don't know how long they should last , but 24,000 sounds like a lot of miles to me ...
Yeah the mileage is a bit high, but I think he is going to be able to come down on the price. I think I can get them for $400. Good deal? When you think about it being $100/wheel, it doesn't sound too bad.
I changed out the rears to bigger P Zero Neros on the 18-inch deep dish knock offs, but I have about 49K on the original fronts and they are still going strong. When I had all four originals I had them rotated at each oil change [3k] so they wore perfectly evenly.
I like them.

I'm not a big fan of those either. Had them on the 06 and they were probably the worst tires in the rain I have ever had. I would get a brand new set of take off wheels rather then ones with 22k miles on them, pzeros included or not. Frankly, 22k miles I would ask $200 at the most.
I got mine from Brenspeed recently for under $700, shipping included. The tires still had the little mold nibs, even on the tread surface that hits the road. I got these so I could run them while saving my 18 inch fanblades for a grippier track and summer only tire without wasting the better tires for normal every-day type driving.
I have 42K miles on mine and they are getting a little thin, but I expect them to make it another 5K miles at least. This is with plenty of smoky burnouts and about 30K miles of curvy/hilly/country roads on my commute from my old house. Excellent treadwear if you ask me.
I have over 24k on my p-zeros. They are still good for another. I drive with some restraint, others may not get so much. If you are looking for high performance these are not the tires for you ... but they are great street tires.
I have 37,000 miles on mine and they are still showing a lot of tread to go.
My wife's Focus has the Pirelli's also though and they do not last at all on her car for some reason -- her last Focus used to burn through the Pirelli's every 10,000 miles so we replaced them with a different brand and with 36,000 on hers it is time to replace (so they at least did better than the last Focus, but not as well as the Mustang).

they are very good tires unless you drive like an animal, for lack of a better term.. lol if you can throw a tire gauge on them that will be the best way to see whats left on them.

I bought a set of 4 bullitts with the Pirellis on them. The seller said they had about 15k miles on them, but all I really wanted was the wheels for snow tires. I paid almost $400 including the shipping. All 4 tires had 11/32 tread depth left on them which is about what my rears had on them with 11k miles (and one really cool donut
).
Hope that helps.

The Pirelli P-Zero Neros feel like any other good Ultra High performance all-season tire. I have not driven my 235/55R17s in the rain or snow, but I know someone who does and he can't get good traction in the snow (just like any other good UHPAS tire).
The treadwear seems very good, and the road noise is very minimal. Dry traction seems to be top notch and I can't complain about dry handling either. The stock suspension is more of a limiting factor than the tires.
My experience with UHPAS tires is that the treadwear tends to be POOR due to the softer compound. I can't get more than 20k miles using UHPAS tires in the Crown Vic (front tires always wear out faster than rear tires).
My next set of tires for the Crown Vic will be the Goodyear TripleTreds. They make them in 235/55R17 but only H-rated, so it may be a risk if you decide to drive faster than 130 mph in the Stang.
But from what I have read, the P-zeros should offer good treadlife if you drive it normally. If you race it frequently, expect to change out the tires.
