Pinging question

A little while back i noticed a noise coming from the floorboard area that i couldnt pinpoint. anyways i posted on the forum about it and did the recommended things like put washers where the bell housing bolts were.

Anyways, i dont think it could be pinging because it continues after i shut off the engine. Someone suggested the gauges sometimes make noises ticking in these cars. Im thinking about calling Steeda and to what they say.

How long you had the long tubes? Are you describing the exhaust ping from heating / cooling. This is normal for new exhaust as the metal needs to go through a few heat cycles. Once that is over, they will still do it if you beat them hard enough to generate a lot of heat. If you beat a Explorer or anything it will ping a bit once you shut it off.

Those are guilt noises. Wash the car, fill the tires to the correct psi, put some good fuel in it and drop a coat of wax on it. You'll feel better and the "pings" will go away.

I have the same issues, I hear gear whine every time I get done with a healthy 1-2 shift. It goes away after I do a spray detail on the chin spoiler.

It really sounds like its the exhaust cooling. Could the long tubes be really close to the heat shields causing the shields to ping from cooling.

Could be exhaust leak, that would make sense. Even a tiny one will make noise, and they can sound different depending on where they are and how bad they are.
