I been reading a lot of threads around the forum and am now more confused then ever. I was originally thinking of the standard CAI, pulleys, headers etc. and then I was dead set on the supercharger. The supercharger costs quite a bit of coin, so that's on the back burner for now. I heard of some people having high temp problems with the pulleys, this true? My car is an everyday driver so I want to stay away from gears. I had 411's on my 85, it was an animal, but it would scream on the highway. I also heard the stock exhaust set up on the 05 was pretty good and people weren't posting any significant hp gains with street legal headers. What do you think the hp benefits of me getting a CAI, larger throttle body and tune are? Which brand is best? And cost? I like the MAC complete to throttle body air system in chrome, but how does it produce? I definitely am interested in it looking good too!
And I haven't seen much on new throttle bodies. Anyone have any experience with them on the 05's? I know it's not a s/c but I think it's more in my pricerange for now. Also, would changing to the ford racing mufflers as the next step have any benefit other than sound, without a full exhaust overhaul? Thanks for the info!!!

To add one more thing to the list.... What are these charge motion plates I hear about? What do they do and what it the benefit of changing them. I know these may seem like dumb questions but I am more familiar with 'sup'ing up older model cars. thanks again

To be honest, all of these questions have been beat to death on here.

But to sum it all up:

CAI and a good tune should get you 25+hp.

If you're getting a SC later, forget the UD pullies and the motion plates, you'll just have to remove them when you get the SC. Aslo, if you get the SC, the 4.10's won't be needed, especially for a daily driver. The 4,10's do wake up the NA cars quite a bit, bit w/a SC, street tires are going to go up in smoke.

TB's are more for throttle response than big HP increases, but the billet alum look pretty good, and the throttle response is much better, and that can lead to quicker ET's.

Shorty headers haven't given much of an increase yet, and with the long tubes, you will be smog illegal. But a few companies are still designing shorties that may be better.

Good luck, do a search, lots of info hear on many types of tunes and CAI, which would be a nice start and cost effective.

Aftermarket charge motion plates free up some air coming into the intake at low rpms. Steeda makes some that are CNC machined aluminum.

Either suspension (Eibach Springs) or a nice set of Flowmasters to start you off. Everything else will come into play. These two up grades won't break your pockets either.

thanks for the info hatch and the rest! i have done some searching on here but like i said, kinda confused me a little more. i think a 25 hp increase wont be bad for a start and do feel i need some kwikr acceleration so i might go with the charge motion plates as well. i get the impression people are happy with the canned tunes but are more satisfied with the custom tunes. i'm in long island and not too far from mustang magic, if anyone has heard of them. he has sum pretty sick stangs and runs sum nice times. i wanted to see what brands and models he recommended but he hasnt responded to my email yet. im sure hes busy and dont have much time to answer novice questions, so thats why i turned to the source. i guess what i really wanted to know was how to get the most bang for my buck. you guys have been helkpful and im hopefully some more people can provide some more input.

It depends if you're looking for short-term gains or if you want to start prepping the car for a supercharger. Shorty headers/x-pipe/exhaust may not do a lot short term, but if you drop a supercharger on later they free up flow and tend to slightly drop boost pressure needed for a give hp level. Also depending on what you're looking to put on later charge motion plates and CAI will give you short term bang for the buck but will likely have to be discarded if you do put a supercharger on (the CAI depends on the kit... the Saleen can use a CAI while Whipple for example comes with a CAI designed for the sc).

If you're going for immediate gains your place to start is definitely a CAI and tune. I'd probably go with the C&L intake and BamaChips or Brenspeed tune.

As far as throttle bodies go, you haven't seen a lot about them because they're just coming out and I don't think anyone has them installed yet.
