Peope with resonators... I need you.

I'm looking to buy some Mac mufflers for the Mustang. I have always been against them in the past, but somehow something just clicked and I'm in love with them.

I plan on putting some resonators in between the mid pipe and muffler to refine the sound. Anyways, I was wondering if anybody with resonators could offer any advice in terms of brands, placement, etc.

If you have Mac mufflers, feel free to chime in.

I really want to hit the nail on this one. I'm basing my decision off of this video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ieCaJKB9vV0&feature=related

I went with the 12" Vibrant resonators and had them welded in the over axle pipes in front of the axle and right behind my x-pipe. They didn't tone my exhaust down as much as I wanted them too, so I put the flows on. If I was you, I would just try the axle backs first and see if you like them.
The Vibrant's were and are very nice quality though.

I have 18" Dynamax resonators; along with shortie headers, offroad H pipe, and Borla mufflers. The resonators eliminated the trumpeting and 99.9% of the droning that I had without them.

While I don't have resonators on my car, I do have the Mac axle back, with other wise stock exhaust. Personally, I believe the sound is great. The drone that you hear everyone talk about is there, but i only hear it at 60-70mph in 5th gear when on the highway. For cruising around town I think they are great, and turn a lot of heads. I was skeptical about buying these because of the drone factor I'd heard about, but I don't regret buying them.

P.S My car is a stick shift which may effect how much drone I have because I can choose my own gear.

Thanks guys.

My plan was to try just the mufflers to begin with, but if I got LT headers, I would probably need them at some point.

I run an offroad H and SLP loudmouths. I put 12" vi brant resonators in and it refined the sound a lot. I would go with the 18" ones though.

Do the 18" ones refine more?

you will need a muffler shop to weld them in. I was lucky and have a friend who is a welder, look here

Yeah, I also bought mine from Verocious motorsports. They shipped them quickly if I recall and I had no problem with them.

My friend did mine for free. It shouldn't cost that much. Just call a few exhaust shops and tell them you want 2 resonators welded in and ask how much.

It cost me 140 bucks. Don't know if that is good or bad, I just took them to shop I trusted. I thought he originally guessed around a hundred in labor, but ended up at 140.

My 18" Dynamax including the resonators and labor was like $95 or $105, something like that.
