I guess it was my wife's excitement over the Powerhouse single intercooled turbo car at the NMRA world finals that did it. She gave me the green light to purchase and install a turbo on our car, she said "I just want to go fast and do it with boost, how soon can we get a turbo?" I thought that I was going to fall over, all of my internet and personal interview research over the past few months was going to be put to use. Mike at Powerhouse recently replied to an e-mail I sent and informed me that the "realistic" release date would most likely be in January, he wanted to check fittment on several cars including an automatic. He asked if I could bring the car to his shop but it is half way across the country from me and I don't have the time to go there considering my job and family. I ended up talking with Mark at Modular Mustang Racing and have agreed to purchase his 68mm single intercooled kit that should be shipped in 2 weeks. I aim to install the kit, start with some conservative dyno tuning via "virtual dyno" utilizing Ken Bjonnes at MDmotorsports, then I will put some miles on it prior to changing short blocks, I don't want to change too many things at one time. I have been preparing for this day for some time by pre-purchasing parts as I have came across them such as a MAF from the Ford GT supercar, 39# injectors from an 04 Cobra, a 255lph returnless fuel pump from Walbro, and I am still searching for the best price on some shorty headers that are ceramic coated if anyone knows of some good deals. I also will be removing my JBA long tubes/off road h-pipe, PM me if interested.

Eventually, as always we will need to get consistent with boost before spraying again. As for nitrous kit I will leave it installed for now.

The kit looks very neat and well designed. I know that placeing the turbos or turbos right up there in the engine bay is not always the best it shure does look good. Good luck and poast about everything I have been looking for somebody to get a turbo.

To be honest I have been looking at it since I first ordered our car, MMR was one of the first companies to come out with an air intake, I was one of the first 10 to get one. I at first thought that 5k was steep for 100hp but after researching it became apparent to me that this kit is capable of upwards 700hp at the rear wheels, and as for the price, good luck finding a turbo kit that you don't have to fabricate for under 5k. I would have gone with the Powerhouse turbo but pricing is still up in the air and production could be delayed, with my wife if she gives you clearance like this, you should take it and run. I have had this experience with 2 different new Mustangs and a 65" widescreen TV under impulses she has like this.

The turbo is a 68mm Innovative, and the waste gate comes from them as well. All of the piping is coated and contains "V" bands for sealing the joints. Their kit will fit with stock exhaust manifolds but performs better with coated shorties. He does not yet have the 76mm system fabricated as it requires slightly different placement of the turbo in the engine bay. We will initally be running around 6lbs of boost and preparing for around 10 or 11 by next spring.

The kit sounds really nice. Does it come with injectors or a fuel pump? I think this would be a really nice setup with an Electronic boost controller. I could have a low boost setting for my daily drive and a race-gas high boost track setting. Also, have you looked into methanol injection? It would be a nice safety feature and adds power.

39# injectors... wont you need close to 60# injectors, the turbo kit you are buying is not a complete kit with all the tubing, turbo, fuel pump, injectors, etc? Most turbo kits are sold with everything thats why they are a little more then S/C kits

BTW CONGRATZ on going Turbo!!!
I am waiting for mine as soon as www.turbochargedpower.com is done development, they are the company that has been featured in numerous MM&FF articles including the boost bash

You can purchase the kit with injectors for the $4999.99 and it also comes with the mass air flow tube 83mm. I purchased the kit slightly less minus those parts, I will be paying 4499.99 and have purchased injectors to run up to 6 pounds of boost at $120.00 and I already have the MAF tube and a new Ford GT MAF. I will probably stay with a manual boost controller as I don't need to change that on the fly, only for races/criusing. It is a little early for me to think about methanol, too many irons in the fire.

I will most likely need 60# injectors or larger after I get the setup up and running, at least to run more than 6# of boost. I plan on doing this after I build a shortblock and retune the car. This kit is complete normally, except for a tune. Mark informed me that the kit is designed to help produce boost at 6# wich will ad 100+ rwhp safely with only 39# injectors and the stock fuel pump and stock Mustang MAF inserted in a larger diameter MAF tube. Basically I asked Mark to break up the kit and offer it less complete such as Procharger does with their "tuner" kit, sometimes you can get the same or better parts cheaper through other channels if you know the right people.

if it is for the turbo car regular headers wont work , turbo cars have special headers to aim the tubing towards the front/turbo

He said he wanted shorty headers and that's what this guy has listed. I'm sure he know's what he needs for this kit. He has to get rid of his long tubes and said he wanted shorty's.
