I've been running my car with Mobil1 5w-30 synthetic since it hit the 10km mark and I was wondering if there's is anyone here that knows his stuff if replacing 1 quart of oil by Lucas Oil stabiliser does any good.
Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks
John

I can't say anything about the oil stabiliser but I would like to point out you're running the wrong weight of oil. 5W20 is spec'd for the 4.6L.

I can't remember if I read it in the forums or the Owners Manual, I think it was the manual. But I think it said not to add stabalizers to the oil. I'm sure its just a recommendation though. They do have a cool little demonstation of oil with and without at the local pep-boys by my house, its a bunch of gears in a glass case and you can see the oil gets over all the gears with it and without it doesnt. Kinda of pointless but cool if you need something to play with while waiting in line

You're correct. Here's the exact quote from the owner's manual:

To protect your engine’s warranty use Motorcraft SAE 5W-20 or an
equivalent 5W-20 oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C930-A. SAE
5W-20 oil provides optimum fuel economy and durability
performance meeting all requirements for your vehicle’s engine.

Do not use supplemental engine oil additives, cleaners or other engine
treatments
. They are unnecessary and could lead to engine damage that
is not covered by Ford warranty.

Thanks guys and BTW, that little toy at Pep Boys is what brought me to this question. On the other hand, I read on Amsoil website that the recommandation for 5w-20 oil is only for fuel economy purposes... In the long run, 5w-20 will increase engine wear as opposed to 5w-30.

I'm going with Royal Purple Racing # 21 (5-30) These Mod motors make to much noise. I used it in my 01 SVT Lightning it made it quite as a mouse.

Fritz, Silver Premium GT, IUP S1000 ..... KDWS 255/50/17s

Personally, I'd rather go with what Ford recommends, period. Also make sure the oil your using meets the spec WSS-M2C930-A. There've been several threads on this already so there's no reason to rehash the debate again.
