Question Oil Change / Tune question...

Now, I know you need to re-install your stock tune and air box when taking your car in for warranty work and such, but if you take the car in for just an oil change, do you have to go through the same process? I have a JLT II CAI and tune on my car and need to take it in for an oil change and was wondering if I can just leave it as is or if I need to convert it back to stock to take it in...

Thanks!

I had extended service plan and took my car into the dealer every 3K miles + a few times for warranty issues. I never changed anything. Really depends on how tuner friendly your dealer is I think.

They aren't going to touch the computer for an oil change. Don't bother.

That's what I thought, but wanted to make sure... Thanks!

I work for my dealer, and never had any problems when I had my CAI on my V-6, but that one was a CAI I didn't *need* a tune for, so I just flashed it back to stock each time to be on the safe side... With the JLT II, I can't do that, so I wanted to find out for sure if it was needed or not... As long as they don't touch my computer, I'm fine...

Here's what you do: buy you some Royal Purple and the oil filter, and take it in to the dealer, he'll charge you $7.95 to do the oil change. The dude they have doing the oil change won't give a **** whather or not your car is stock or not.

I'm talking from experience...I don't know why they do it, but they do...I can't see where they have a margin doing the oil change for $7.95 when they don't even sell you the oil....it's the best value IMHO....maybe they figure you'll come back for other stuff so its a promotional cost?

I used to do it with the Dodge dealership when I had my '97 Viper GTS...only it was $5 there.
