Oil Change Question

Hey Guys,
I wanted to switch over to synthetic since i'm getting pretty annoyed that everytime I bring my car in for service, I get charged close to $200 for an oil change w/ the regular motorcraft junk, some wiper fluid, and a really expsenive multipoint inspection. Anyway the consensus seems to be either Mobile 1 or Royal Purple. But my question is, how/ where can I safely dispose of the old oil? Would some place like Jiffy Lube take it for a small fee? Thanks for the help!

It's under 50 bucks here at our dealer with the motorcraft blend, and they top everything off and give it a quick once-over(they don't pull the wheels though).

Welcome to New York haha. This is the same dealership that gave me a hard time about taking the car out for a 5 minute drive when it came in after 6 months of waiting.

Jiffy lube or maybe a parts supplier like auto zone or pep boys.
Valvoline 5w20 oil change is 29.90 after taxes and oil disposal fee.

I can either take a few gallons to my local Autozone or I can take it all at once to the local recycling center for the town. I suggest looking for where your local recycling center is. I kept forgetting to take my used oil and I ended up brining approx 45,000 miles worth of oil to my local recycling center and they said just leave it over there.

Dont leave it in milk justs for a while. I did that and a while later it ate thru the thin plastic of the bottle and made a nice mess on the garage floor.

AutoZone or O'Reillys takes used oil.

I just changed my oil, had 295 miles on the car, to Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 Oil filter. Its about the easiest oil change I've ever done, its so easy to get to the filter and drain screw. Easy is good.

I change mine every 3,000 miles at my local dealer for about 35 bills.

I've never paid someone to change my oil but $200 sounds outrageous.

I've always used Amsoil synthetic in my previous cars. I haven't switched the Mustang over yet, but that's what I will use. Autozone and Advance Auto both take used oil, I think Jiffy Lube does too but it's been many years since I took any there.

Thanks for the help guys. I was thinking either using one of my gf's old kitty litter plastic buckets or one of the home depot homer buckets. Next question, I was due for the 15,000 mile inspection about a month ago. What else would they do at 15K miles and how much have you guys been paying for the whole service by ford? Would it be worth it to change the oil and then bring it in for the rest of the "maintenance"? Also, as long as it is 5w20 they shouldn't give me a hard time about it not being motorcraft right? Thanks again.

You should change the fuel filter and cabin air filter.

$200 for a regular service?????
WOW!! That same thing here (western Canada) is around $50.00
Try a different dealer. Whomever you're dealing with are crooks!
Personally I HATE the idea of letting anyone else work on my car. The ONLY reason I let the dealer touch it is because of the warranty but since the dealer last saw it I've done quite a few mods so I don't think I'll take it there again.

I'm in a similar situation. I've just been taking my mods off (Intake and Jet Chip) before taking it in for service. But now that I installed the Roush rear springs I figure they'll give me a hard time about those too.
