Here are some pictures. After tweaking the original design they fit like a glove! I am going to try and get some temperature tests done this week, but I can almost assure you that there won't be a difference. However the piece is sturdy, eye-appealing (I hope you agree), and a nice fit! I'm very happy with our new powdercoater. He did superb.

this fit for the JLt II? Whats the advantage with this heat shield over the one that comes with the JLT II intake?

 

how much longer for the "C"

 

C is awaiting test fit, and then goes into production. Once they're done, powdercoating takes 2-3 days. I don't want to give a date just yet, but I'll have a date by the end of the week.

The advantage of this heat shield is that it is made of 1/8" thick aluminum, and uses rubber trim seal to avoid rattle and prevent paint scratching inside the engine compartment. It's a gloss black, so it's more of a dress up piece than anything. We were going to offer a stainless steel polished, but by the time it was done it would be nearly 90 dollars, so that was out the door. We're still trying to find a way to make it work..

Any specs on how high the edges are, meaning does it create a tight seal against the hood liner? I have used pipe insulator "foam" to put on the outer edges of my current one attempting to create this tight seal, a key area which most of the heat shields lack?

We tried using pinch weld seal like other popular kits out there. Not only couldn't we find one 1/8 thick would allow, but it was too high. It actually wouldn't allow the hood to close.

This shield does have a rubber seal around where the filter housing sits which creates a snug seal there which is a plus.

If the stainless steel one is too expensive, why not try a polished aluminum one? They can look just as good I think. You could possibly even do a mirror finish aluminum for anyone looking for that type of look.

The polished aluminum will not hold up to the elements, and rust and pit after a while. Furthermore it's harder to keep up with polished aluminum than stainless or a black powdercoat. We actually had a test one done. We had it on the vehicle for 2 days and that typical white haze started to come out like polished wheels, etc.

Yea, we tried clearcoating a polished aluminum, and it was slightly better, but lost a good amount of lustre. So for now, the black powdercoat is the way to go! Looks great, anyway!

After it's all said and done I can't justify spending $60 for that shield. I'll just put some rubber molding around the edges of my JLT shield. Thanks for getting it out there though CR!

 

There's the prototype installed. I will have pictures of the gloss black installed later this week!
