O/R X-pipe + Stock Mufflers: Yes or no?
I have a Pypes O/R X-pipe sitting in my garage that I've been thinking of putting on my car. I do not have the money to buy different mufflers, so I will have to stay with the stock mufflers. Alot of people are saying that it will sound like crap. I heard this youtube video where a guy has a similar setup and to be honest it doesn't sound that bad at all...

...I'm just looking to hear peoples opinions from this forum.
Thanks.

This is created by not only an offroad x pipe, but also chambered mufflers. An offroad X pipe with a strait through design (such as Corsa's or Magnaflow Magnapacks) sound really, really good.

I ran an off road X with Stingers for all of a week before getting sick of the RASP (As did Tom281) and swaped the Test/Off Road Pipes out for the Hiflo Cats-- I've tried numerous setups, and been in the game long enough to know that these 3Vs are stubborn mules when it comes to getting them to sound 'RIGHT' -And like I said earlier, your 'RIGHT' could be completely different than mine.
EDIT:::::
And when I say 'Numerous Setups', they have occured as follows:
Stock everything.
Stock Manifolds/H with No mufflers
Stock Manifolds/H with Violators
Stock Manifolds/H with Stingers
Stock Manifolds/OR X with No mufflers
Stock Manifolds/OR X with Stingers
Stock Manifolds/Catted X with No Mufflers
Stock Manifolds/Catted X with Stingers
Open Headers (Drove around the Block, never really 'Drove' it)
BBK Longtubes/Catted X with Stingers
And Currently: BBK Longtubes/Catted X with Pypes Midmuffler
And now the Note is PERFECT at WOT, but needs to be deeper just driving town...So I am thinking of getting a prochamber welded in place of the X.

-But before you install them, make sure your mind it made up and secure about never being able to run a Turbo...Because after you go through the tedious and painful task of laying on the 40* garage floor for so long your back/arms start to rash, while your fumbling around twisting your arms in ways you never could have imagined to reach bolts that MUST have been mysterious tightened by master midget mechanics who secretly work for FoMoCo during the assembly of your car from the Factory--YOU WILL NEVER TAKE THEM OFF..Not for Law Enforcement..Not for Special Someones who get headaches riding in your car at above 2700rpm for long periods of time..and Especially not neighbors who complain about your Cold Start raising the dead at 7 am every morning!

Well with my car, the 800rwhp single turbo Supra, the 7xxrwhp Procharged z06, the pullied 04 Cobra, and some crazy guy with an explorer which sounds like its running open headers terrorizing the neighborhood the cops have to be called out at least once a month courtesy of my 'Friendly Neighbors' --And yes that is Neighbors with an S, as in plural, as in more than one pissed off neighbor...I think I need to change my licsense plate in honor of my new found reputation (Which Im not particularly proud of) to something along the lines of HeHateMe

I had thought a OR pipe was the way to go with the stock manifolds, and either stock AB or aftermarket, however after racking my brain on the exhaust issue trying to get it right before blowing $$$$$ and swaping out between 3,4,5 different setups... LTS seem to be the way to go if you want that loud setup that you can not get by just switching out ABs.
Im thinking something along the lines of LT's, some type of high flow catted H (MRT perhaps) and a straight through type AB , possibly stingers or maybe corsa if I could get a used set. Just not sure how bad the drone would be on a daily driver (w/stingers)... its a never ending debate.

I run an o/r H with the stock muffs and I love it. I painted them black and plan on welding some 4" tips on them. Personally, i'm not a big fan of mufflers being at the rear bumper, so the black paint doesn't make them quite as noticable.
My buddy has an o/r X with the stockers on his 05 and it's just raspier and not as quite deep as mine. It is a tad louder though. He likes it.
I am a fan of the stock muffs if there aren't any cats involved.
They are somewhat quiet when you need them to be (cruising), without any drone. But when you give it some throttle, they wake up. Nice and loud with a good tone.
So I say YES!

I've been reading through TacoBill's howto for the O/R H-pipe because I figured the X-pipe install would be nearly identical. Is it possible to install it only using a set of ramps under the front wheels?

I ran a O/R X pipe for over a year and had stock mufflers. I liked it, But then I added the Cat back Magnaflow and really love it now. Long tubes will be next as I really love the sound of that with a high flow cat.
The high flow will give it the right sound.
The X pipe is good but you will need to have the cat sensors turned off. I pulled one and installed a Wide Band Air Fuel guage sensor.

Never heard an o/r x with stock mufflers though.
