Not your typical oil question...
Well I feel kind of stupid, because I've searched the whole forum, and there are oil threads left and right.
BUT...here it is...
My 07 GT isn't my daily driver. I had Mobil 1 5w-20 put in her at 3k miles about 3 months ago and it just hit 4k last night. I know they say that you should change synthetic oil every 3-5k miles or 3-5 months. I know that in another 2 months I will probably have another 500 miles on her. So what I'm getting at is, will the oil be bad if I don't reach those amounts of oil? Will it go "bad?"
I'm sure there are some of you who don't daily drive your Mustang who can anwser this question. I hope I explained the question relatively clearly.
Thanks,
Brandon

The time intervals are in place for people who daily drive their cars, but have a 2 mile daily commute. Those people will take 3 years to get to 5K miles, and yet drive the car every day.
The most important question is, when you DO drive the car, how do you drive it? Do you get it good and hot every time, or do you short trip it? Lots of idle time, or easy highway miles?
If you get the engine hot when you drive it, and don't make too many short trips with it, you should be good for 1 full year oil change intervals, especially with a good quality fully synthetic oil. Make sure you get it good and hot before you put it away for the winter, and just change it in the spring before you take it out of storage.

When I drive the car it's at least for 50 miles or so. Maybe once or twice a week. Rarely is it a 5 mile trip or anything short. I use Mobil 1 5w-20 oil and K&N oil filter religously.

I say change the oil once a year, in the spring when you take it out of storage, or in the fall before you store it. It will not hurt a thing to have the dirty oil in there over the winter, as long as it was put away hot so there is no condensation/water in the oil.
Any sooner than 1 year and you are just wasting $$ and oil.
