Noise with Pypes O/R H-pipe

After getting the pipe installed I have this noise/Vibration coming from the front of the car(Right behind the dash) under heavy acceleration. Usually from a dig in 1st, 2nd gear at around 2500+ RPMs. Anyone with these pypes experience this?

Nope. Could be something didn't get tightened right during the install of your pipe, or it could be that the extra sound is causing you to hear a new rattle from something loose in your dash. My bet would be to re-torque your bolts for the H-pipe.

Checked the bolts and nothing. I got tired of PMs and just wanted to go on the actual board.

Did you check the bolts on the clamp the holds the H-pipe and the mid pipe together???

I'm going to have them welded. What exactly do I tell the shop? Weld this?

Yeah just tell them you want the O/R H welded to the mid pipes.

You also need to make sure you have the h pipe seated correctly on the manifolds..... if you don't, and even if you have the bolts tight, it will rattle and sound like an annoying rattle sound coming from behind the dash. I've had this problem once and awhile on my Pypes H, because I take it on and off alot...... reseat the connection at the manifold, and tighten it down again- give that a shot.

Oh and yes as Leo said, have the mid pipes welded. DO NOT MOVE OR JAR THE PIPE AFTER REMOVING IT AND BEFORE IT'S WELDED..... you do not want to disturb it's orientation and then weld it that way.

I had the same problem with the rattling and noise... I went to the shup and they saw that the Hangers were too close to the wall and was hittin it with every vibration....Also remember that its possible you moved the Catback when installing the H-Pipe...

Also check the TSB section of these boards. There are several dealing with rattles and one is on a transmission mount that comes loose. Another member had a similar problem and thought it was coming from the dash but really it was from under the car.

There are alot of people that have installed this midpipe without any problems. I wouldn't weld the o/r h midpipe to the over the axle pipes because those coupler clamps aren't your problem. Try troubleshooting everything, make sure none of the exhaust piping are contacting other metallic pieces. I had a metallic vibration sound and it was because i over rotated the over axle pipe and it was making contact with a metal tab just before the axle. I just loosened the coupler clamp at the mid section just enough so i could rotate the piping clockwise a 1/4 inch and retighten the clamps. Problem was solved, I just don't think welding everything is your answer.

I checked the TSB about the hangers and they looked fine. The noise I have isnt happening every single second.

+1000 do NOT have the system welded. This can eliminate alot of adjustment for the axleback. I would look further back into the car, because alot of times the over-axle pipes get pushed too far back and rub or rattle. Your problem isn't in the clamps.

Or as Tom said, the flange for the exhaust manifolds isn't seated right. Ball and socket flanges are touchy, and if they're not flush will rattle or leak.

Finally Tillman, you give decent advice....... LOL! Just pickin' man

Seriously though for additional clarification for anyone having trouble, when I mentioned welding I was referring ONLY to the connection point at the H where the two Pypes pieces meet..... they supply a U-clamp to join the two sides together and this is the place that I would recommend having welded, only after installing it and ensuring the fit is good. After you install it and are happy with the fit, remove it (DON'T DISTURB THE ORIENTATION) and have the middle connection welded. DO NOT weld the H pipe to the over-axle pipes, you will need alot of adjustment here to align your mufflers/tips.

So I had sold my 07 a while back and just picked up another stock 07. Driving home I had the same noise from either: A) Dash B)Radio C)Shifter

It sounds as though it would be washer rattling on the bolt.
