Noise coming from rear end?

Just had professional shop change out stock gears in my 06 gt auto vert. Hears my NEW problem. When traveling at low speed about 10-20 mph and I turn at a light or pull into a parking space, I hear what sounds like a whining noise come from the rear end. I don't hear it going in a straight line or when I am at speed 55 or over. You know something's up when the wife mentions a noise as well.

Please respond as to what this probably is. I did not have this issue whatsoever before the gear change. Oh and I took the car back to the shop(great place and they will do what it takes to make it right!) and I went with the mechanic and couldn't get the freakin' thing to make the rear end noise. So, sometimes I get noise when turning and sometimes I don't. HELP! ideas?

Two possibilities I can think of. As it's only happening during low speed turns I'd look to the differential as the source of the problem.

The first possibility is that your differential clutch pack is worn and needs to be replaced. There is a TSB for this, should be easy to find. When I had my gears done I had a new clutch pack installed as mine had started doing the same thing prior to the install.

More likely (since it just started happening after gears install) the shop did not use friction modifier or the proper amount of friction modifier when they added the fluids back. You need to ask about that, without the friction modifier the clutch packs will "chatter" or "whir".
