The block is not the same as pointed out above. The deck height is taller and the block is wider as a result. Does this affect the transmission bolt pattern? I don't know. In the case of the 2000 Cobra R it's 5.4 mates to a T56 no problem.

Well, what about in the case of the 03-04 Cobra... 4.6 engine, with a 6 speed transmission, wouldn't that mate without much trouble?

usually even though the blocks may be different they are set up to be able to mate to the same bellhousings. I know with older cars the mating pattern from a 1966 289 is exactly the same as the mate for a 95 mustang 302. Although they are pretty much the same block, a 351 with a 2 inch deck height increase also used the same mate. I am willing to bet that the 5.4 is an extremely similar to the 4.6 in the use of the trans mounting. although different blocks, they probably accept the same bell housing.

Let's hope it is, that would be sweet... I might look into the 03-04 6 speed... what do you guys think? Would it be as much trouble as the guy matting the Viper 6-speed?
