yea -- WHOA!
What's the deal with the different version predators now? If I wanted a specific device, I'd have bought the SCT. I bought the predator purely for the reason that If I wanted a C&L pipe later then all I'd need is to load the C&L code. For now I just wanted the plain ole predator tunes.
I don't get it -- are you saying that we no longer can do that? Now if I wanted a C&L intake I have to buy the intake AND a C&L predator? that IS BS. Please clarify before there is a witch hunt!
THANKS
Pete

Hang on a sec there.
ok there is a steeda predator, sold by steeda, which will NOT take a tune from the diablo site. there is a C&L predator that is the same way. If you have a diablosport predator from diablosport and not purchased directly from steeda or C&L then you get the steeda or C&L tunes from the diablosport web site. I dont believe this has anything to do with a flash upgrade, which replaces the platform Operating system with an updated version. think of it this way, the predator runs an operating system kind of like your computer does, and the tunes are just a module that the predator transfers from the device to your vehicle. tunes, and version updates are completely seperate (except of course for the ones that are included in the predator by default).
so in short if you bought a steeda predator, and now want a C&L tune you are prolly SOL, and vice versa. If you bought a predator direct from diablosport you are fine, and can still download tunes from diablosport's site.
if i am wrong, shoot me.

Chris - I called DTP to make sure the Diablo revision will not conflict with the new JLT tune and they said it won't. I did install the revision and re-uploaded (is that a word?) the JLT tune and it works GREAT. No issues at this point.

NOTE:
Just spent several hours with Cole @ DiabloSport trying to resolve modifying parameters (axle ratio) with the C&L CAI Custom Tune after installing the C&L CAI Custom Tune for my new 4.10 gears. The answer for now is: You can't. Reason: The current version of DS Downloader will not allow you to modify parameters (axle ratio, etc.) once the Custom Tune has been installed. Looks like DiabloSport is aware of this issue and the new version of DS Downloader, which should be released tomorrow, will resolve this and other issues.
I had intended on driving the vehicle to the install shop with the C&L CAI Custom Tune installed with the factory default axle ratio setting. Once the 4.10 gears were installed, prior to having dyno'd, modifying the C&L CAI Custom Tune for the newly installed 4.10 gears. Looks like my plans have changed for now.
The good news is Cole stayed on the phone with me for about 3 hours until we had identified the problem. Now we just have to wait for the new version of DS Downloader to be released.
PS: I also learned today that if you modify the C&L Custom Tune for the 4.10 gears prior to installing the tune, then install the tune and the vehicle is still equipped with the factory 3.31 gears, the PCM will immediately go into FailSafe mode and derate the engine. Tried that as a work around instead of modifying the tune after installation.

I think im sticking with my 91 octane tune on the original predator until all this gets sorted out. Im waiting until the smoke clears and I can see all the options available to me.

The tune he sent me is fbjr3g5_C&L. Just took apart my intake again and made sure everything was fine; it was. The car is missing in the mid range and is throwing no CEL's. I am not going to drive it until I fix this.

I would suggest speaking with Cole @ DiabloSport (561-908-0040 ext. 212) on this issue. He seems up to date and very willing to help. Part of the problem may be a conflict between the Custom Tune you have and the r14 release revision. Cole will help you. He has never failed to resolve my issues. Also keep in mind there is a new version of DS Downloader being released today that may help resolve your issue.

The DiabloSport Predator will always accept custom tunes; the new version of Predator used in the 2005 GT application actually holds five custom calibrations. End users can run up to five calibrations, street, track, pump fuel, race fuel, nitros oxide, supercharger, etc.
The revision or CROM file update, R14 for example, is the base software in the Predator, calibrations, features everything has been updated, not just adding a calibration or “custom tune”.
When the Predator is set up specifically for a manufacturer, like in the CAI applications, the base CROM files are different, and can not be crossed. Adding a custom tuned calibration from a CMR dealer is an extra calibration added to the tool, and does not replace the base calibration. When the custom tune is removed the original calibration is there in the tool.
The factory original calibration is saved in the Predator on first use of the tool, and can only be removed when “restore original back up” is done. This also unlocks the Predator from the specific vehicle.
As only with DiabloSport Predator, any calibration, even the factory original, can be saved to a PC, attached and sent by e-mail, to be used in custom tuning by CMR dealers or DiabloSport. See your users’ manual for details.
Thanks,

OK I have just one question - if I order a JLT CAI and the Predator with it, will I be able to make adjustments for cooling fan "turn on temp" and gears without messing up the custom DTP tune?
