It looks more user friendly than the previous version.

But it's tune is probably the same conservative 91 octane program, as the original Procal tool. In which your still unable to make any parameter adjustments/changes.

I talked to FRPP about it recently and it is currently only available with 1 of their supercharger kits with no current info of when it would be implemented in their other kits.

All I can tell you is that the first procal "tool" was a complete joke and waste of time and money. All it is, is a box that uploads a very crappy way overly conservative, too rich tune and that's it. It took maybe 5 tries before it got bugged and wouldn't work anymore and it has absolutely no user adjustability whatsoever. Go sct or diablo with a custom tune from one of the reputable tuners, you won't regret it.

So has anyone checked out that new USB flash drive? That question is the equivalent to asking about the tuning devices for the PCM. They simply carry a canned or pre-programmed tune and deliver it to your PCM upon request.

I heard rumors that the 07-up PCM have the adaptive spark system built-in (ala 08 Bullitt) but I haven't seen any settings available to Pro Racer users. They may be locked or reserved only for SCT tuners that have passed the training.

They told me it would likely become available for other than supercharger kits sometime in the new year.

Say I purchase the Bullitt intake and get an aftermarket tuner and tune from another source. Does Bamachips or any of the others offer the Ford tune so if I have to take my car to the dealer I can simply swap the custom tune for the Bullitt tune and not have any issues?

I don't know if anyone offers the frpp bullitt tune but the aftermarket tuners like sct and predator can restore your tune to stock which would not give you any issues from the dealership.

The only issue would be if there is a major failure. In that case Ford will investigate, and they will know if a Custom tune has been used, even if the computer has been returned to the stock tune.
The only ' custom tunes' that will not set that code are the FRPP and Shelby GT tunes. (Shelby tune probably because it is likely an FRPP tune) Unlike the older ECMs, that code isn't resetable, and may not even be visible to, a Code Reader.

You don't have to believe it, but there it is. Nothing wrong with using an aftermarket Custom tune, just be aware.

I could see that but a cai and custom tune aren't going to be the cause of a major malfunction so even if they did know you had one on there it shouldn't matter. They'd have to prove the custom tune was the cause of the malfunction to void your warranty. (Technically anyway)

I would assume that if I bought the Bullitt intake, I would definitely want to have the Ford Bullitt tune to go with it if I had to return it to the "Ford approved" tune when I took it to a dealer. I would think that if I had the intake on, and I programmed a stock GT tune back in, it would not run properly since the CAI intake would change things. I guess my goal here is to have the Bullitt intake, have the ability to put on a Bullitt tune, but also have the ability to use one of the aftermarket tunes as well. I am guessing this would require me to not only purchase the Ford Procal, but also purchase an aftermarket tuner and tune as well. Then I could return it to the Bullitt tune to match the Bullitt CAI should a trip to the dealer be in order. It sounds like Bama or others don't provide the Ford Bullitt tune. Also, has there been any documented problems with any of the more agressive aftermarket tunes out there causing any engine damage? I also use my CS as a daily driver. Are the agressive tunes going to kill the gas mileage or is that more an issue of how heavy my foot will be?

You are right about it possibly not running as well BUT just so long as the bullit tune doesn't change the mass air flow housing size it will run good enough on the stock tune for you to get the car to the deakership for work and back home. You might be able to use both tuners and have the sct or diablosport one think that your procal tune is actually the stock one but I doubt it. You'd have to talk to a dealer like bama or brenspeed and ask them if the new tuner would accept the procal tune as the stock tune or not. My suggestion would be to get the bullit intake (if that is the one you are dead set on), then get a tuner (sct or diablosport) and a tune from a company such as brenspeed or bama. And just return the tune to stock when you bring the car in. Me personally I don't change my tune at all. My dealership knows all the aftermarket stuff I have done and that my tune is not stock and they don't hassle me about it at all. The only reason I would return the tune to stock was if something went wrong and I needed to bring the car in for possible warranty work or of it isn't running properly.

As far as damage from the tune it is possible if the tune you get is way to lean then you could get detonation. BUT if you get a tune from a reputable tuner such as brenspeed, bama, that shouldn't be anything you have to worry about. If you are worried you can always get it dyno'd and find out what your air/fuel is sitting at. I wouldn't want mine much if any leaner than 12.5-12.9 n/a.

And as far as gas mileage goes it shouldn't get worse unless your foot get's heavier. Infact some people have gotten better gas mileage. I make a fair bit more power than stock, have a bigger intake, maf housing, a custom dyno tune, 4:10 gears, and I can still get 25mpg highway and 19-20mpg city if I drive like a whiteman. (which I dont, I average 17mpg driving hard always, which I do )

I have the same problem with my right foot as well. I always average about 17-18 mpg. Sounds like my best bet is to just get the Bullitt intake and then an aftermarket tuner and tune and not sweat it.
