New engine

I am thinking about building a new engine for my 05 GT and the 304 short block from brenspeed caught my eye. I wanted to know if anyone has used this block or if there would be another direction to take to start my build.

I have almost 170K on my 05 & it still runs & looks great. I have been toying with the idea of installing a 5.0. They are showing up in the salvage yards now, or I can get a big discount from my Ford clients on a new engine. I haven't looked into all that will have to be changed & updated, but I think it will be pretty straight forward. Also, if you are building an NA engine to make similar HP as the 5.0 makes stock, I would think the 5.0 swap is the way to go. Plus you can then build more from the 5.0 base.

I love the idea of putting a 5.0 engine in my car but how much would a newer one cost. I can only day dream about being able to put 170K into my car and that brenspeed stroker isn't crazy expensive.

Next winter I will be doing this. I have been talking with the guys at http://www.modularmustangracing.com/ and will be getting a stroked shortblock from them. To me this is the way to go as it's a direct replacement and all your stock items bolt on.

LOL, I meant a 170K miles. My car still runs & looks great so it is hard for me to justify spending 35K for a new one, but I may. Anyway, I'm guessing for about 10K I can put a new drivetrain, suspension, brakes, etc. under my car & I'm good to go.

How much is the Brenspeed stroker?

Is it a long block ready to go?

Here is an ebay link for the new 5.0 for 6500$. I can do better through my contacts, & maybe if there is enough interest we can do a group buy?

Nice bare block, but at 3300$ (if that is the unit you are interested in) it will cost a lot more to build then the new 5.0. I agree on the easy bolt up. There are areas that I am not sure will just bolt up like, A/C compressor, P/S pump, cooling system, engine & trans mounts, electronics maybe a little more complicated.

I also have access to salvage auctions, so another plan would be to get a 5.0 wreak & swap all the systems onto my car. You can't believe how many are available already in such a short time frame.
